Scientists at the University of Oxford used AI to develop a new biomarker, or'fingerprint' called fat radiomic profile (FRP). The technology could identify people at high risk of a fatal heart attack at least five years before it strikes by detecting biological red flags in the perivascular space lining blood vessels which supply blood to the heart, Tech Explorist reports. Currently, there are no methods routinely by specialists that can spot the majority of the fundamental warnings for a future heart attack. For this study, scientists primarily used fat biopsies from 167 people undergoing cardiac surgery. They then analyzed the expression of genes related with inflammation, scarring, and new blood vessel formation, and matched these to the CCTA scan images to figure out which highlights best demonstrate changes to the fat encompassing the heart vessels, called perivascular fat.
Police Use of Facial Recognition Is Accepted by British Court

This project will position the UK as a world leader and pathfinder for the deployment of AI empowered cost effective and IoT systems to support smart farming in developing countries.

New research released last week by OpenAI, the artificial intelligence nonprofit lab founded by Elon Musk and Y Combinator president Sam Altman, details how they're training AI bots to create their own language, based on trial and error, as the bots move around a set environment. This is different from how artificial intelligence algorithms typically learn -- using large sets of data, like to recognize a dog by taking in thousands of pictures of dogs. The world the researchers created for the AI bots to learn in is a computer simulation of a simple, two-dimensional white square.

Researchers, including one of Indian-origin, have found that bots or fake accounts enabled by Artificial Intelligence (AI) on social media have evolved and are now able to copy human behaviour to avoid detection. For the study published in the journal First, the research team from the University of Southern California examines bot behaviour during the 2018 US presidential elections compared to bot behaviour during the 2016 US elections. "Our study further corroborates this idea that there is an arms race between bots and detection algorithms. As social media companies put more efforts to mitigate abuse and stifle automated accounts, bots evolve to mimic human strategies. Advancements in AI enable bots producing more human-like content," said study lead author Emilio Ferrara.

The labor ministry said Friday it has issued administrative guidance to Recruit Career Co. for selling to its clients web browsing data predicting the odds of job-hunting students declining informal job offers, without the students' consent. The ministry judged that selling the data violated the employment security law. The guidance was issued through the Tokyo Labor Bureau. The ministry said providing such information to companies before hiring decisions were made and without the students knowing about it, in a situation where students gave no consent or had no choice but to give consent, weakened the students' position and had a withering effect on their job-hunting activities. It thus demanded that Recruit Career take corrective steps.
