OCBC's New Voice-Based Virtual Assistant Gaining Traction - Fintech Singapore
Each month, over two million banking transactions and services are performed using the OCBC Mobile Banking app. Since 19 August 2019, the app has offered an AI-powered voice-based virtual assistant โ which has helped with over 20,000 requests made via voice. In half of these requests, the customer was seeking information about spending categories and budgets; another 30 per cent concerned past banking transactions. Other mobile banking services that were performed using voice included locating ATMs, paying bills and changing banking PINs. The new voice-activated banking service, which was developed and trained over 13 months and is called the OCBC Banking Assistant, 'lives' in the OCBC Mobile Banking app.

Artificial Intelligence Software Will Track Athletes' Speed at 2020 Tokyo Olympics
Ever feel like the broadcasts for running meets lack a few bells and whistles that you may notice during other sporting events? If so, Tokyo 2020 is hoping to change that--and revamp the viewer experience with artificial technology innovations. On Wednesday, Intel announced a new partnership with International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Tokyo Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games, and as part of it, also revealed some of the tech they will have at the event to offer broadcasters in Tokyo next July. Davos 2019: Three financial leaders on the responsible use of artificial intelligence
Amid the excitement surrounding the potential of artificial intelligence, financial institutions have a responsibility to ensure that AI is used in a way that's fair, transparent and accountable, according to TD Group President and Chief Executive Officer, Bharat Masrani. "TD is in the trust business, and we have worked hard to develop that trust over the past 163 years," he said. Masrani's comments came as part of a panel discussion among global financial sector leaders in Davos, Switzerland during the World Economic Forum on Thursday. Artificial intelligence helps improve diagnosis of head and neck cancers
Researchers from Charitรฉ - Universitรคtsmedizin Berlin and the German Cancer Consortium (DKTK) have successfully solved a longstanding problem in the diagnosis of head and neck cancers. Working alongside colleagues from Technische Universitรคt (TU) Berlin, the researchers used artificial intelligence to develop a new classification method which identifies the primary origins of cancerous tissue based on chemical DNA changes. The potential for introduction into routine medical practice is currently being tested. Results from this research have been published in Science Translational Medicine. Every year, more than 17,000 people in Germany are diagnosed with head and neck cancers.

China's rapidly evolving surveillance technologies have snared their share of fugitives in recent years. Most of these cases have involved facial recognition cameras, which can detect individual facial features regardless of glasses, hats or masks. There were the 80-odd wanted suspects picked out of crowds of tens of thousands of fans at concerts by Jacky Cheung, a legendary Hong Kong pop star. In April this year, a genius student wanted on suspicion of killing his mother was caught after being on the lam for almost four years. He was nabbed within 10 minutes of entering Chongqing airport, local media outlet Southern Metropolis Daily reported.
New Biomarker 'Fingerprint' with AI Technology Can Now Predict Future Heart Attacks
Technology and AI are increasingly being used to improve our lives, especially in the medical field. Now, researchers at the University of Oxford have used machine learning to help estimate the health of arteries and have developed a new biomarker to predict heart disease, and prevent future heart attacks. The researchers claim it can identify people at risk five years before it strikes. The typical procedure for those with chest pain is to conduct CCTA or coronary CT angiogram -- an imaging test to check the arteries. "If there is no significant narrowing of the artery, which accounts for about 75 per cent of scans, people are sent home, yet some of them will still have a heart attack at some point in the future," the press release claims.
