Jedox customers Mitsui Chemicals Europe and ServiceMaster have achieved tangible results in pilot projects to improve sales forecasting and customer loyalty with the new integrated AI engine after just a few months and aim to expand their AI applications. Mitsui Chemicals Europe GmbH upgraded its existing Jedox planning environment with the Jedox Predictive Analytics and AI Engine. The focus of the project was sales forecasting. To achieve even greater predictive accuracy, the project team and Jedox Partner HighCoordination implemented Jedox's "Predictive Forecast" standard model.

But now a new generation of cameras is beginning to be used. Like the one perched on the top of the Cardiff police van, these cameras feed into facial recognition software, enabling real-time identity checks -- raising new concerns among public officials, civil society groups and citizens. Some members of Parliament have called for a moratorium on the use of facial recognition software. The mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said there was "serious and widespread concern" about the technology. Britain's top privacy regulator, Elizabeth Denham, is investigating its use by the police and private businesses.

Technology to connect our brains directly to the internet already exists in various labs around the world, and the first primitive steps towards full connection between humanity and electronics are already in use. In 2012, US TV show 60 Minutes showed a paralysed woman named Jan Scheuermann feeding herself a bar of chocolate using a robotic arm controlled by her brain. That same brain sensor was shown to be just as capable of controlling an F-35 stealth fighter. Professor Chris Toumazou, Regius Professor of Engineering, Chair in Biomedical Circuit Design at Imperial University, says it's impossible to guess what the applications of brain-to-computer interfaces might be.

One of Silicon Valley's million robot companies brought another cool toy to the IFA conference in Berlin this month, and it sees, hears, and speaks as it cleans. The company is Trifo: They've been around for a few years, and they're tapping into a seriously lucrative market. According to the company, Statista estimates that shipments of home robots will grow to nearly 30 billion units by 2025 and The International Federation of Robotics says the personal household service robots market will reach over $10 billion by 2020. The new gizmo, announced at the IFA event in Berlin last week, is Max, a delightfully simple brand for a pretty curious, aware, and able robot. Trifo also launched Ironpie at CES in Las Vegas early this year, a smart robot vacuum that reportedly "cleans faster, protects furniture better, is controllable from anywhere, and with a host of features that improve on the original home vacuum concept."
