Online communication is continually evolving. For a long time, marketers focused on email marketing because it was the best channel to generate the most Return On Investment (ROI). However, today, email has become overcrowded. Professionals receive approximately 141 emails every day, and the Click Through Rate (CTR) for a typical email marketing campaign is only 5-10%. Facebook is shifting focus too.

The Next Big Thing in artificial intelligence » strategy

#artificialintelligence

This story originally appeared in the October 2019 issue of strategy. In recent years, every sector, from finance to QSR, has amassed and aggregated data from various sources to uncover themes around unmet consumer needs, says Meghan Nameth, managing director for customer marketing and product analytics at PwC. But identifying patterns within defined sets of structured data is "actually the easy part of AI," notes Anne-Marie Castonguay, who heads up data and insights at Lg2. Now, the next big thing is deciphering unstructured data, such as documents, audio, video, social chatter and product reviews, which are usually qualitative in nature and far more difficult to parse. Machine learning algorithms typically use structured data – clearly defined data types that can be easily categorized, stored and searched in a database – to function.

Will driverless cars cause havoc on Britain's roads? Telegraph readers share their views

#artificialintelligence

How will driverless cars, tested on the reliable roads of California and Arizona, cope with the narrow lanes, roundabouts and left-sided driving of Britain? They will certainly have to adapt if they're to become the global phenomenon that companies including Uber have promised is on its way, wrote technology reporter Olivia Rudgard on Wednesday. Take, for example, the many minor UK roads that don't have white lines, which driverless cars rely on to know which lane they should be in and how to position themselves. She offered four other reasons why autonomous vehicles could cause havoc on roads this side of the pond, and asked Telegraph readers for their views on whether this innovation will be...

Cameras will be installed in Bengaluru which are connected to a strong computer network to study the vehicle density and tell signals to change accordingly with this Traffic Management in Bengaluru will enter the artificial intelligence era. There are 387 traffic lights in Bengaluru which will soon use AI and regulate traffic more efficiently, according to B R Ravikanthe Gowda additional commissioner of police(Traffic). The new systems, cameras will be able to study the traffic density and according will decide on how much time to allow the vehicles to clear the signal. Currently, there are only 35 traffic lights or 10% of all the traffic lights are adaptive while others have a fixed time-cycle. The new signals consist of built-in AI units that calculate, network and assess with other signals automatically.

Complex Eye Scans now easier using AI. - Analytics Jobs

Using Artificial Intelligence, researchers are now able to identify the back of the eye images. Scientists have utilized Artificial intelligence (AI) to produce a far more accurate and in-depth method for analyzing images of the rear of this eye, a prior which may help ophthalmologists better identify and monitor eye diseases as glaucoma, and age-related macular degeneration. In the study, released in the Scientific journal report, the scientists looked for a new way of analyzing images from a state-of-the-art instrument known as the Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT). The scientists, together with those from the Queensland Faculty of Technology (QUT) found Australia, explored a range of machine learning strategies to analyze OCT pictures. The retina and the choroid are the two main tissue layers at the back of the eye and researchers tried extracting images from these two layers.

Tesla acquires computer vision startup DeepScale in push toward robotaxis – TechCrunch

#artificialintelligence

Tesla has acquired DeepScale, a Silicon Valley startup that uses low-wattage processors to power more accurate computer vision, in a bid to improve its Autopilot driver assistance system and deliver on CEO Elon Musk's vision to turn its electric vehicles into robotaxis. CNBC was the first to report the acquisition. TechCrunch independently confirmed the deal with two unnamed sources, although neither one would provide more information on the financial terms of the deal. Tesla vehicles are not considered fully autonomous, or Level 4, a designation by SAE that means the car can handle all aspects of driving in certain conditions without human intervention. Instead, Tesla vehicles are "Level 2," and its Autopilot feature is a more advanced driver assistance system than most other vehicles on the road today.

How technology is helping society get better learning outcome - ETtech

In a classroom in rural Maharashtra, students stare at a screen as it reads out their English textbook. The teacher occasionally clicks on a word for its Marathi translation -- the primary language of most students at the school -- or shows them a picture to make them understand a word. This method of learning has started to significantly improve the quality of English education in Maharashtra's government schools. Sanjay Gupta, Chief Executive Officer of EnglishHelper, which created the technology platform, the company developed it after researching the most efficient way to learn a new language. "The challenge is to get exposure to language as a student. This is a multisensory, repetition-based platform which won't confuse the student," he says.

A large-scale study reveals 24-h operational rhythms in hospital treatment

#artificialintelligence

Hydralazine order and first-dosing times were nonuniformly distributed over 24 h [Kuiper's test (3), P 0.01], marked by distinct morning-time surges and overnight lulls (Figure 1). Nearly twice as many treatments were ordered between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM (2,842) compared to 10:00 PM and 8:00 AM (1,652). The profiles were described by 24-h rhythms using 3 separate detection methods [cosinor analysis (4), Jonckheere-Terpstra-Kendall (JTK)_CYCLE (5, 6), and Rhythmicity Analysis Incorporating Nonparametric (RAIN) (7), P 0.05] (Figure 1B and Dataset S1). The morning surge in hydralazine order times coincides with team rounding and a medical staff shift change (Figure 1C). Caretaker shifts at our institution include 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM shifts.
