141 Cybersecurity Predictions For 2020
Serial cybersecurity entrepreneur Shlomo Kramer said in a 2005 interview that cybersecurity is "a bit like Alice in Wonderland" where you run as fast as you can only to stay in place. In 2020, to paraphrase the second part of the Red Queen's observation (actually from Through the Looking Glass), if you wish to stay ahead of cyber criminals, you must run twice--or ten times--as fast as that. The 141 predictions listed here reveal the state-of-mind of key participants in the cybersecurity defense industry and highlight all that's hot today. The future is murky, but we know for sure that on January 1, 2020, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) will go into effect; that the U.S. presidential election will take place on November 3, 2020; and that on October 1, 2020, if you "wish to fly on commercial aircrafts or access federal facilities" in the U.S., you must have a REAL ID compliant card. Other than these known events, the crystal balls of the participants in this survey warn us ...
How Machine Learning can Keep Real Estate Out of the Data Abyss Propmodo
For at least a decade, big data has gone from buzz word to everyday vernacular. But in most corners of the commercial real estate industry, claims of big data usage have been little more than a marketing gimmick. This isn't because of the lack of data to work with. The sheer quantity of data commercial property owners and operators have at their fingertips is growing daily. The problem is that only a small subset of this data is utilized.
Ambarella Enables Artificial Intelligence on a Wide Range of Connected Cameras Using Amazon SageMaker Neo
LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ambarella, Inc. (Nasdaq: AMBA), an artificial intelligence (AI) vision silicon company, today announced that Ambarella and Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS) customers can now use Amazon SageMaker Neo to train machine learning (ML) models once and run them on any device equipped with an Ambarella CVflow -powered AI vision system on chip (SoC). Until now, developers had to manually optimize ML models for devices based on Ambarella AI vision SoCs. This step could add considerable delays and errors to the application development process. Ambarella and AWS collaborated to simplify the process by integrating the Ambarella toolchain with the Amazon SageMaker Neo cloud service. Now, developers can simply bring their trained models to Amazon SageMaker Neo and automatically optimize the model for Ambarella CVflow-powered SoCs.
Deepfakes Pose New Security Challenges - Security Boulevard
Expect to hear a lot about deepfakes in 2020. It's not that manipulating images is anything new, but with technology advantages and the increasing use of biometrics as an authentication tool, deepfakes will impact cybersecurity efforts. For example, cybercriminals are now perfecting deepfakes to impersonate people to steal money and anything that might be valuable. The technology has been improved to reach a higher level, where it becomes difficult to tell the difference between a fraud and a friend. According to McAfee researchers, deepfakes will make it more difficult to achieve true facial recognition, just as facial recognition software is increasingly used to unlock smartphones and as airport identification alternatives, to name a few use cases.
Optimising artificial intelligence in the pharmaceutical industry
Artificial intelligence can be applied to almost every part of the pharma industry. Christopher Rafter discusses its many uses and how the adoption of machine learning will increase in the future. Artificial intelligence (AI) has wide-reaching potential within the pharmaceutical industry, from clinical trials to marketing and sales analytics. Using a machine learning programme can reduce the time spent on examining data, saving money and allowing researchers to focus on other issues. European Pharmaceutical Review's Victoria Rees spoke with Christopher Rafter, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Inzata Analytics, to discover more about AI in pharma and its capabilities.
Telangana targets to become artificial intelligence hub; targets to attract 200 startups
The Telangana Government has announced partnerships with chip major Intel, Adobe, Tech Mahindra, Nvidia, Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) and IITs of Khargapur and Hyderabad. The tie-ups are primarily around research, building capacities and encouraging entrepreneurship and building ecosystem around AI. The Tata Consultancy Services has announced that it will make investments in the AI domain in Hyderabad. This comes after it had announced 2020 as the Year of AII and its decision to make Hyderabad the hub for Artificial Intelligence (AI). At a meet organised to announce the Year of 2020, Telangana Information Technology Minister K T Rama Rao has given a AI roadmap for the State.
US National AI Strategy: Recent Developments and Shortcomings
Artificial Intelligence is dynamically changing the landscape of the world and it is expected to dramatically affect all significant aspects of human life as well. The technology that simulates intelligent behavior in machines has enabled people to process. Analyze and transform information and develop a whole novel industry. For such reasons, countries like America and China are eagerly ready to steal AI's thunder to gain leadership and supremacy in this space. AI is significantly bringing about economic, political and military strength across any country in today's age. Owing to such advents, it is crucial for the USA to get AI right into its system and to start with the development, first step is always creating a meaningful strategy.
The Democratisation of AI - CRN - India
In India, AI is becoming pervasive and has now seen adoption in a huge number of firms that are looking to automate some of their key processes. While the usage of chatbots is common now, the potential of AI is being explored to solve some unique problems. For example, Uttar Pradesh is using an AI powered video analytics tool to monitor prison activity across 70 prisons in real-time. The AI solution will ensure that law enforcement authorities are notified immediately when an unlawful activity is detected. Similarly, in the case of jewellery giant, Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri, AI is being used for automating product and attribute identification.
