TCIAIG has been accepted into the Thomson Reuters Web of Science and will, by mid-2012, have an Impact Factor listed in the Journal Citation Report (JCR). The journal is co-sponsored by the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society, the IEEE Computer Society, the IEEE Consumer Electronics Society and the IEEE Sensors Council. It is technically co-sponsored by the IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society, the IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society, the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society, and the IEEE Communications Society.
Arria NLG : Raises GBP2.7 Million Via Convertible Note Issue (ALLISS) 4-Traders
LONDON (Alliance News) - Artificial intelligence and natural language technology firm Arria NLG PLC on Monday said it has raised GBP2.7 million through the issue of convertible loan notes. The notes will be convertible into Arria NLG shares at 40.00 pence per share and will mature in October 2019. They will carry an interest rate of the UK base rate, currently 0.25%, plus 5.0%. In addition, subscribers for the notes will get two unlisted warrants for each USD1.00 they invest in the notes. These will be exercisable up to June 2019 at 12.00p per share.

Semi-supervised Learning with Sparse Autoencoders in Phone Classification

We propose the application of a semi-supervised learning method to improve the performance of acoustic modelling for automatic speech recognition based on deep neural net- works. As opposed to unsupervised initialisation followed by supervised fine tuning, our method takes advantage of both unlabelled and labelled data simultaneously through mini- batch stochastic gradient descent. We tested the method with varying proportions of labelled vs unlabelled observations in frame-based phoneme classification on the TIMIT database. Our experiments show that the method outperforms standard supervised training for an equal amount of labelled data and provides competitive error rates compared to state-of-the-art graph-based semi-supervised learning techniques.

Mumbai: Typing a query in an online search box is straightforward for users. It's not so for search engines that have to crawl trillions of pages, track links on them, sort them by content, then index the pages and also have their algorithms understand what the queries mean before dishing out the answers--all in less than a second. More so, for a company like Google, which processes billions of searches daily--making search "core" to the company's mission of organizing "the world's information" and making it "universally accessible and useful". When Google was founded in September 1998, it was serving around 10,000 search queries per day. The company now processes more than 40,000 every second on average, which translates to over 3.5 billion searches per day and 1.2 trillion per year worldwide, according to internetstatslive.com.
Neville Marriner, L.A. Chamber Orchestra music director and 'Amadeus' maestro, dies at 92
Neville Marriner, the first music director of the L.A. Chamber Orchestra and the founder of the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields chamber orchestra in London, died Sunday night, the academy said. Millions of moviegoers who may not recognize Marriner's name have nonetheless been touched by his work: He served as music supervisor for the film version of "Amadeus" and conducted the soundtrack, which went on to be one of the bestselling classical recordings of all time. Born April 15,1924, in Lincoln, England, Marriner studied at the Royal College of Music and the Paris Conservatoire. He began his career as a violinist, eventually playing in the London Symphony Orchestra. Later, what started as a group of friends gathering to rehearse in Marriner's living room became the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, a premier chamber ensemble that gave its first performance in its namesake London church in 1959.
