DL-Learner is a framework containing algorithms for supervised machine learning in RDF and OWL. France's Navya raises 34M for its self-driving shuttle bus, reportedly at a 220M valuation

When it comes to self-driving cars, the public tends to focus on developments for private vehicles for individuals, but there are also some significant advances underway in other categories such as shuttle busses. In the latest piece of news, Navya, a startup out of France that makes driverless shuttles, has raised 34 million ( 30 million) in funding to build out its team, technology and sales. The funding is coming from two strategic backers, public transportation provider Keolis and automotive parts group Valeo, along with Qatari investors Group8. Navya is not disclosing its valuation but one report from Funderbeam estimates it at 222 million after this round. Navya prior to this round had raised 4.5 million ( 4.1 million) from French investors Gravitation, CapDecisif, and Robolution Capital (an investment fund focused only on robotics investments).

In the 1800s, the story goes, an aristocrat named Ada Lovelace was studying maths with inventor Charles Babbage, who had built a machine that could perform calculations โ€“ what we'd call a computer. The World Economic Forum has made an important discovery: San Francisco is a major center for discussing innovation, policy, and the future of civil society. On Monday, the venerable international organization announced the opening of its third office outside its Geneva headquarters, after New York and Beijing. Dubbed the Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution in San Francisco, the new office takes its name from the current big-think thesis of WEF's founder, German business theorist Klaus Schwab. As Alan Murray explained earlier this year, Schwab's first three revolutions featured steam power, electricity, and computers; the new one involves sensors and artificial intelligence. WEF is famous for its snowy annual thinkfest in Davos, Switzerland, where global leaders and other opinionated folks come together to discuss the state of the world.
