Native Advertising Platform Adyoulike Expands to US with Launch of First AI-Driven Header Bidding Solution -- MarTechSeries
European adtech company ADYOULIKE, which offers a AI-driven native advertising platform, today launched a US operations in New York, along with debuting a new server-to-server (S2S) header bidding solution. The company said the new solution assures native ads are placed with the maximum contextual relevance available and is the first to incorporate semantic targeting powered by IBM Watson. Among the first companies to offer S2S for native ads, and the first to leverage AI to enhance their solution, Adyoulike said the development of the new S2S solution is a continuation of the company's ongoing commitment to using emerging technologies to drive advances in programmatic advertising. Publishers using the solution to manage their inventory will have the ability to create private marketplaces and package deals for buyers that include more precise targeting based on context and sentiment. This added relevance, says Adyoulike, increases value both for the publisher, and for the brand.

Apple release 'Clips', a Snapchat-like app that could signal its augmented reality ambitions
Apple has released a new app, called Clips, that might have secretly signalled its future ambitions. The app sounds like a piece of fun, and Apple describes it as intended to make it "quick and fun for anyone to create expressive videos on iPhone and iPad". It does that by combining photos and videos into video clips, and letting people share them on Facebook, Instagram or any other social network. But the major feature is what it calls "Live Titles", which are described as "a breakthrough feature that lets users create animated captions and titles using just their voice". "Fun effects including comic book filters, speech bubbles, shapes and full-screen animated posters help bring out the personality in videos made with Clips," a press release reads. UK Athletics Para-athletes classification 'could be abused'
The classification system for British track and field Para-athletes "could be abused" and is "open to exploitation", according to a UK Athletics review. The review found a "wide consensus" among those with experience of the system that rules could be exploited, also identifying methods of doing so. It follows claims before the Rio 2016 Paralympics that classifications could be manipulated to boost medal chances. Yet, there is "no substantive evidence" to suggest widespread cheating. A four-person panel, chaired by Paralympic wheelchair racer Anne Wafula Strike, conducted the review between November and February, with its findings revealed on Tuesday.
Netflix Is Using AI to Conquer the World... and Bandwidth Issues -- The Motley Fool
In early 2016, streaming giant Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) announced that it had rolled out its service to 190 countries around the world. As the top provider of streaming content in the U.S., one of the biggest questions regarding the company's ability to succeed elsewhere was the issue of bandwidth. With slower internet speeds in many countries, would streaming performance suffer as a result? With worldwide growth at stake, this was a question that the company needed to answer. Turns out Netflix has a variety of tools it uses to navigate markets with underdeveloped bandwidth.
Trump and Bannon attack the 1% to disguise the fact that they are card-carrying members of it
To understand the war on the global elites that Steve Bannon and Donald Trump claim to have unleashed, think of an epic battle between Bruce Wayne and Lex Luthor. The fabulously wealthy corporate titan and criminal mastermind, Luthor is motivated by self-enrichment and megalomania. Originally drawn as a man with a full head of red hair, Luthor's hatred of Superman and Batman may lay partly in a complicated hair story variously interpreted as an artistic mistake, Superboy's fault, or merely male pattern baldness. As a child he was either an abused boy growing up in poverty and bootstrapping his way to wealth, or as the resentful son of a wealthy and domineering father. Luthor blames Superman for his failures to help humankind and the chances he has passed up to do the right thing.
RoboThesbian stars in UK play Spillikin, a love story
In a poignant play traveling throughout the UK, a robot is co-star and companion to the wife of the (now deceased) robot builder, with the wife developing early Alzheimer's. The play explores very human themes about love, death, and disease, all handled extremely sensitively with RoboThespian playing a large role. All of his life he builds robots, but he develops degenerative illness in mid-life and realizes he's not going to live to remain a companion to his wife. His wife, by now, is developing early Alzheimer's, so he builds his final creation, his final robot to be a companion to his wife." The robot is from Engineered Arts, a 12-year-old UK company that develops an ever expanding range of humanoid and semi-humanoid robots featuring natural human-like movement and advanced social behaviours. RoboThespian, Socibot and Byrun are their most prominent robot creations. "We have pre-programmed every single thing the robot says and every single thing the robot does -- all the moves.
Living and working with robots: European Robotics Forum to focus on robotics markets and future of work
Over 800 leading scientists, companies, and policymakers working in robotics will convene at the European Robotics Forum (#ERF2017) in Edinburgh, 22-24 March. This year's theme is "Living and Working With Robots" with a focus on applications in manufacturing, disaster relief, agriculture, healthcare, assistive living, education, and mining. The 3-day programme features keynotes, panel discussions, workshops, and plenty of robots roaming the exhibit floor. Visitors may encounter a humanoid from Pal Robotics, a bartender robot from KUKA, Shadow's human-like hands, or the latest state-of-the-art robots from European research. Success stories from Horizon 2020, the European Union's framework programme for research and innovation, and FP7 European projects will be on display.
