2018 World Cup Predictions using decision trees

In this study, we predict the outcome of the football matches in the FIFA World Cup 2018 to be held in Russia this summer. We do this using classification models over a dataset of historic football results that includes attributes from the playing teams by rating them in attack, midfield, defence, aggression, pressure, chance creation and building ability. This last training data was a result of merging international matches results with AE games ratings of the teams considering the timeline of the matches with their respective statistics. Final predictions show the four countries with the most chances of getting to the semifinals as France, Brazil, Spain and Germany while giving Spain as the winner. The objective of this study is to build a predictive model that will allow us to make good predictions for the coming World Cup 2018 so we looked for dataset with historic data for match results, for this purpose we chose a dataset from Kaggle with data of almost 40,000 international matches played between 1872 and 2018.

The rising availability of artificial intelligence is posing a new cyber crime threat, a senior INTERPOL figure has told IFSEC 2018. According to Silvino Schlickmann Jr, Assistant-Director Research & Innovation at the international policing agency, increased sophistication available to criminals such as chat bots will enable them to rapidly upscale the breadth of their targets. "The machines can use natural languages now, talking to people who would never know they're dealing with a machine," he said. "You no longer have one computer attacking one person. The state should play a leading role in the future of AI, and the future relationship with the private sector needs to be one of true partnership, not one of pliant submission. Three policy changes would help. First, AI capability should be built-up at the heart of government. AI researchers should be funded and seconded into government departments and senior policymakers should receive AI training. Second, state investment should challenge AI start-ups to focus on core public service issues (such as A&E, social care etc) through R&D investment and funding.

By the first few months of 1982, it had become more common to see electronics stores, toy stores, and discount variety stops selling 2600 games. This was before Electronics Boutique, Software Etc., and later, GameStop . Mostly you bought games at stores that sold other electronic products, like Sears or Consumer Distributors. Toys'R' Us was a big seller of 2600 games. To buy one, you had to get a piece of paper from the Atari aisle, bring it to the cashier, pay for it, and then wait at a pickup window behind the cash register lanes. Everyone had a favorite store in their childhood; here's a story about one of mine. A popular "destination" in south Brooklyn is Kings Plaza, a giant (for Brooklyn) two-story indoor mall with about 100 stores. My mother and grandmother were avid shoppers there. To get to the mall from our house, it was about a 10-minute car service ride. So once a week or thereabouts, we'd all go. The best part for me was when we went inside via its Avenue U entrance instead of on the Flatbush Avenue side.


This tech company used AI to give a radio host his voice back after it was robbed by a rare medical disorder

A tech company based in Scotland has built a new voice for US journalist Jamie Dupree, who lost the ability to speak due to a rare neurological condition. Dupree is a Washington-based political journalist and radio host for local broadcaster WSB Atlanta. He began to lose his voice in 2016 and was diagnosed with tongue protrusion dystonia, a neurological condition which causes people to lose control over their tongues, making speech almost impossible. While Dupree continued to work as a journalist, losing his voice meant he had to come off the air. After a two-year absence, he will be back broadcasting this month with a new AI-generated voice on WSB Atlanta and other Cox Media-owned stations in Orlando, Jacksonville, Dayton, and Tulsa.

Screen time harm to children is unproven, say experts

There is no strong evidence to support fears that screen time is inherently bad for children, experts have warned, adding that the recognition of so-called gaming disorder by the World Health Organisation is premature. Time spent using devices ranging from computers to smartphones and televisions has been the subject of debate after the UK's culture secretary Matt Hancock called for parents to set boundaries for their children on the use of tech. "Unlimited and unsupervised access to smartphones can be a portal to some very serious risks. And the chief medical officer has highlighted growing concerns around the impact on children's mental health. This backs up every parent's instinct; that children must be protected," he said.
