ISS astronaut reveals incredible image of the moon from orbit
It is a stunning new view of the moon - taken from a unique viewpoint. He posted the stunning image to illustrate just how far astronauts aboard the ISS travel as they orbit the Earth. 'By orbiting the Earth almost 16 times per day, the #ISS crew travel the distance to the Moon and back – every day,' he said.
Programming Fusions with the BigML API
As part of our Fusions release, we have already demonstrated a use case and walked through an example using the BigML Dashboard. Our fourth of six blog posts on Fusions will demonstrate how to utilize Fusions by directly calling the BigML REST API. As a reminder, Fusions can be used for both classification and regression supervised Machine Learning problems, and function by aggregating the results of multiple models (decision trees, ensembles, logistic regressions, and/or deepnets), often achieving better performance as result. Using the BigML API, requires that you first set up the correct environment variables. Additionally, the BIGML_API_KEY can be found on the Dashboard by clicking on your username to pull up the account page, and then clicking on'API Key'.

Incredible video shows an AI being taught to drive a car in '15 to 20 minutes'
Engineers have taught an AI the basics of driving in '15 to 20 minutes' – a process that can take some humans dozens of hours behind the wheel. Wayve, which was founded by researchers from Cambridge University's engineering department, used a technique known as'reinforcement learning' to achieve the feat. This teaches the algorithm using trial and error, with correct decisions rewarded with uninterrupted driving, and mistakes being corrected by a safety driver in the car. As the test progressed, the algorithm behind the wheel learnt not to replicate any mistakes that had been corrected by the human safety driver in the car. According to the Wayve team, the AI learnt to drive and corner while staying inside its own lane within '15 to 20 minutes' after it first took to the roads.
Argos text scam tricks customers through fake refund message
Cyber criminals are sending text messages that appear to come from Argos in an attempt to fool customers of the retail giant into sharing their personal information, including their payment details. One scam message shared by a would-be victim on social media, stated: "Your Argos credit card has a refund of £270 from an overpayment." The message includes a link to what appears to be the Argos website, however leads to a phishing website designed to steal a person's personal information. Even more confusingly for recipients, the message appears in a messaging thread that includes legitimate texts from Argos in the past. Action Fraud, the UK's national fraud and cyber crime reporting centre, issued a warning to any potential victims.
The achievement gap and AI augmented online tutoring
The achievement gap between students who come from different socio-economic backgrounds is a well-known and persistent problem in education. Disparities in achievements between high and low socio-economic groups are evident in children as young as age 3 years and seem to be a problem the world over. Despite pupils' overall attainment scores rising over the last decade or so, the gap between students from different socio-economic groups remains intractably present and widespread. Family finances play a big part amongst the various reasons for this disparity. Pupils from low socio-economic backgrounds (SEBs) are often only able to attend a few, if any of the extra-curricular activities enjoyed by their more affluent peers. Access to good schools for pupils from SEBs is often reduced as is their access to the educational and occupational aspirations which can impact children's academic achievement.
