A couple who drugged men seeking sexual services in order to steal from them have been jailed for killing two men and poisoning others. Adina Mihai and Madalin Dumitru admitted the manslaughter of Gary Mouat, 36, from Oxfordshire, and Malcolm King, 80, from Gloucestershire, in 2025 and 2024 respectively. The pair also each admitted two further counts of administering poison to surviving victims on the first day of their trial in June. Mihai and Dumitru were both sentenced to 17 years in prison at Oxford Crown Court. Mihai, who posed as a sex worker, and her partner Dumitru, arranged to meet men paying for services she had advertised online at their homes.

The number of homeless children in England living in temporary accommodation has risen 5% in a year to 177,530, according to new government figures. January to March saw the 18th quarterly increase in a row, although the number of children living in B&Bs has fallen. Meanwhile, the total number of households in temporary accommodation increased by nearly 4% in a year, the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government said. Prime Minister Andy Burnham has pledged to introduce the biggest council house-building programme since the postwar period. Ronesha, 31, has been living in temporary accommodation with her two sons since 2024, after being made homeless following a no-fault eviction.

'The fish is in the right' says man bitten by blue shark while angling A man who was bitten by a shark on a boat off the coast of County Waterford is due to undergo surgery. Sebastian Achim was part of a crew tagging sharks for research off Ram Head, Ardmore, when the incident happened on Tuesday. The crew, who were experienced fishermen, were catching the sharks, tagging them and then releasing them back into the sea. Later in the day, Achim caught another shark and was bitten in the leg after pulling it into the boat. 'The fish is in the right' Speaking to RTÉ Radio One's Morning Ireland, external programme, Achim said the plan was to hook the shark, tag it and release it.
