This paper introduces and overviews a multidisciplinary project aimed at developing responsible and adaptive multi-human multi-robot (MHMR) systems for complex, dynamic settings. The project integrates co-design, ethical frameworks, and multimodal sensing to create AI-driven robots that are emotionally responsive, context-aware, and aligned with the needs of diverse users. We outline the project's vision, methodology, and early outcomes, demonstrating how embodied AI can support sustainable, ethical, and human-centred futures.

It proposes a multi-objective learning-based coordination approach to addressing the problem of path planning, navigation, task scheduling, task allocation, and human-robot interaction in multi-human multi-robot (MHMR) settings.
Facial recognition scheme in place in some British schools
Updated Facial recognition technology is being employed in more UK schools to allow pupils to pay for their meals, according to reports today. In North Ayrshire Council, a Scottish authority encompassing the Isle of Arran, nine schools are set to begin processing meal payments for school lunches using facial scanning technology. The authority and the company implementing the technology, CRB Cunninghams, claim the system will help reduce queues and is less likely to spread COVID-19 than card payments and fingerprint scanners, according to the Financial Times. Speaking to the publication, David Swanston, the MD of supplier CRB Cunninghams, said the cameras verify the child's identity against "encrypted faceprint templates", and will be held on servers on-site at the 65 schools that have so far signed up. He added: "In a secondary school you have around about a 25-minute period to serve potentially 1,000 pupils. So we need fast throughput at the point of sale."
UK schools will use facial recognition to speed up lunch payments
Facial recognition may soon play a role in your child's lunch. The Financial Times reports that nine schools in the UK's North Ayrshire will start taking payments for canteen (aka cafeteria) lunches by scanning students' faces. The technology should help minimize touch during the pandemic, but is mainly meant to speed up transaction times. That could be important when you may have roughly 25 minutes to serve an entire school of hungry kids. Both the schools and system installer CRB Cunningham argued the systems would address privacy and security concerns.
UK schools' science and technology curricula 'not fit for purpose', say teachers
Science and technology curricula in UK schools are'not fit for purpose' and need to be updated to help pupils'change the world for the better', teachers have warned. Polls taken amid COVID-19 on behalf of the Amazon Longitude Explorer Prize found 47 per cent of teachers think the technology curriculum, specifically, is out of date. More than half of teachers said they had not the support to ensure lessons kept pace with advances and 59 per cent said resource shortages were limiting lesson plans. And 59 per cent said the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) curricula constrain their ability to help students reach their potential. The findings also flagged issues that have arisen specifically as a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic -- including the impact such has had on practical teaching.

On a visit to China this summer, I was asked by a local journalist if I thought their country's education and training system was ready for artificial intelligence (AI) and the fourth industrial revolution (4IR). This got me thinking about what it means for any country – let's say the UK – to be AI-ready in educational terms. In this country, there is increasing discussion and debate around the use of technology, including AI, in teaching and learning.
