Elon Musk showcases army of 30,000 'Optimus' robots designed to help with household chores including 'babysitting your kids' ... drawing comparisons to dystopian future depicted in I, Robot
Elon Musk has showcased his army of 30,000 Tesla Optimus robots that are designed to help with household chores, prompting people to draw comparisons to the dystopian future depicted in I, Robot. In shocking and impressive footage, the humanoid robots were seen stiffly walking in single file across a stage while viewers stood jaw-dropped on the sidelines. Musk said attendees could walk up to the Optimus robots who would do things like serve drinks. 'At scale, you should be able to buy an Optimus robot for 20,000 to 30,000,' he said. 'It can walk your dog, mow your lawn, get the groceries, just be your friend.'

What is Tesla Optimus? Your pressing questions, answered
Tesla's Optimus is not a new electric vehicle, as you might expect if you haven't been following Elon Musk's tweets. Also known as the Tesla Bot, Optimus is a humanoid robot concept that Musk announced just last year. There are already two working prototypes, one relying on off-the-shelf parts, and another, more refined version, that uses Tesla's own actuator design. In yet another, world-changing, grandiose plan, Musk described a robot that could soon supplement human labor in factories and potentially free the world from the burden of doing physical work for a living in the distant future. At Tesla's AI Day 2 event, Musk presented two versions of working Optimus prototypes.

AI Day: Elon Musk unveils 'friendly' humanoid robot Tesla Bot
During Tesla's AI Day event, CEO Elon Musk unveiled a robot that is "intended to be friendly". Musk has been one of the most prominent figures to warn that AI is a "danger to the public" and potentially the "biggest risk we face as a civilisation". In 2017, he even said there was just a "five to 10 percent chance of success [of making AI safe]". Speaking about London-based DeepMind in a New York Times interview last year, Musk said: "Just the nature of the AI that they're building is one that crushes all humans at all games.
Don't Laugh Off the Tesla Bot. Elon Musk's Optimus Is the Real Deal
When watching Tesla's humanoid Optimus robot debut at AI Day 2022, it's entirely fair to be skeptical about the company's ultra-ambitious plans. The prototype robot's shuffling gait paled to the exciting parkour and flips of Boston Dynamics' Atlas, and Tesla has missed many deadlines bringing its full self-driving technology to its cars. But I was at the AI Day event, and I'm here to advise you not to dismiss Tesla's sci-fi inspired vision. The company revealed abundant evidence that it's thinking deeply about a bipedal robot and the artificial intelligence technology needed to make it useful. And much of Tesla's track record of genuine achievements in electric vehicle engineering and manufacturing apply to Optimus.

Tesla's Second AI Day: Tesla Bot, Self-Driving Cars, Dojo Computers and More
Tesla's artificial intelligence team took to the stage on Friday evening for the company's second annual AI Day to demonstrate how far their autonomous robot and vehicle research has come. Tesla AI Day 2022 gave us our first look at the Optimus robot strolling around the stage, updates on self-driving software and a first look at the Dojo hardware powering Tesla's AI research. Originally planned for June, Tesla CEO Elon Musk delayed the showcase until September to get the Optimus prototype working. "This event is meant for recruiting AI & robotics engineers, so will be highly technical," Musk tweeted Thursday. Mirroring Musk's stance that the Tesla Bot will be "friendly," Tesla tweeted an animation of robot hands forming a human heart symbol.

Tesla AI Day: Musk Confirms 'Catgirl' Version Of Tesla Bot; Shares Photo
Tesla CEO Elon Musk unveiled the moving, functioning version of the Tesla bot (Optimus) at this year's Tesla AI Day 2022. The tech billionaire also confirmed the "Catgirl" version of the humanoid AI and shared its photo. Tesla AI Day 2022 went live a few hours ago, with the American electric vehicle maker finally revealing the highly anticipated Tesla bot. The team showed two versions of the Tesla bot–the first one, the skeletal version and the other, as Musk described, is the kind that is "close to what will go into production." The skeletal version shows autonomy.

Tesla's robot is a real robot now, not just a guy in a suit
Tesla CEO Elon Musk kicked off its Tesla AI Day 2022 with a quick level set on expectations -- "we've come a long way" -- and then stepped aside to allow the first iteration of its robot walk out onto the stage. The robot wasn't a human dressed in a robot costume like last year. Instead, Tesla introduced a functioning robot, albeit with exposed cables and a bit wobbly, at its second annual event. According to Musk, it was the first time it was working without "any support, cranes, mechanical mechanisms or cables." After a brief turn about the stage, the robot left the stage before the rest of the presentation continued, which included several short videos of the robot (now tethered for stability) carrying a box in an office, watering a plant and lifting a small piece of metal in the Tesla factory in Fremont, California.
Elon Musk and Tesla to unveil humanoid robot: 5 things to know
Why is Musk building a robot? Musk teased the idea of the Tesla Bot at the first AI Day last year, CNET reported. He provided details on specifications and showed a mockup to guests, including someone who came out wearing an Optimus outfit and danced around to show how the robot would move, but Musk chose to wait until the second AI Day to present a physical prototype. According to Musk, the robot will be designed to handle "dangerous, repetitive, boring tasks" a human would want to avoid. "In the future, physical work will be a choice. If you want to do it, you can, but you won't need to do it," he said at the event.

Tesla AI Day: Elon Musk teases the Optimus robot, self-driving updates and artificial intelligence
After months of tweets and teases, Elon Musk is attempting to manage expectations ahead of Tesla's AI Day tonight. The tech company's humanoid Optimus robot - teased at last year's artificial intelligence event by a person in a spandex costume - is expected to be the star of the show. Tesla on Friday morning shared a short clip of a pair of robotic hands making a heart shape. The Tesla CEO said that people can expect'lots of technical detail and cool hardware demos' at the Palo Alto, California event that's being livestreamed beginning at 5 pm Pacific Time. Whatever the state of the robot prototype, it has massive implications for everything from manufacturing to domestic life, the service industry, healthcare and more.

AI Day 2022: Elon Musk's Tesla to unveil humanoid robot, supercomputer
Elon Musk-owned Tesla is set to introduce unique and innovative artificial intelligence (AI) solutions in its AI day 2022 event scheduled to take place today (tomorrow morning as per Indian Standard Time) at its Palo Alto headquarter in California. It's unlikely though that we will witness any product launch here in the event as it is more of Tesla showcasing its plans to the developers. However, it will give us insight of the products which we can expect in the future. Here we have presented the highlights of the plans unveiled during the last edition of Tesla AI day. The heart and soul of last year's event was the humanoid robot - Tesla bot.
