Republicans scrap deal in 'big, beautiful bill' to lower restrictions on states' AI regulations

FOX News

A deal that had been reached between Sens. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., and Ted Cruz, R-Texas, over how states can regulate artificial intelligence has been pulled from President Donald Trump's "big, beautiful" bill. The collapsed agreement would have required states seeking to access hundreds of millions of dollars in AI infrastructure funding in the "big, beautiful" bill to refrain from adopting new regulations on the technology for five years, a compromise down from the original 10 years. It also included carveouts to regulate child sexual abuse material, unauthorized use of a person's likeness and other deceptive practices. Blackburn announced Monday night that she is withdrawing her support for the agreement. A deal between Sens. Cruz shoots down Schumer effort to regulate AI: 'More harm than good'

FOX News

Fox News anchor Julie Banderas reacts to the vice president's gaffe and CNN calling Dylan Mulvaney a man on'Jesse Watters Primetime.' EXCLUSIVE: Sen. Ted Cruz is criticizing Democrats for what he believes is a rush to regulate the artificial intelligence sector, and says new rules for AI would be a drag on the U.S. in the critical tech race against China. "I am concerned China is investing heavily in AI. I'm also concerned that Democrats want to impose such stringent regulations on the development of AI that it stifles innovation in the United States, and allows China to take the lead," Cruz told Fox News Digital after a classified briefing on AI and national security this week. "That would be a generational mistake," he said of the Democrats' effort.

Artificial Intelligence and Space Mining: the Gateway to Infinite Riches

What do Ted Cruz, Neil deGrasse Tyson and Goldman Sachs all have in common? They predict that the world's first trillionaire will make their innumerable fortune in space. While Cruz is not precisely sure how this will come to be, Tyson and Goldman Sachs believe that the gateway to this immense wealth is through mining asteroids. The reason why space mining is so sought after is due to what is happening here on Earth. Based on known terrestrial reserves and estimates of the growing consumption in countries, essential elements needed for modern industry and food production (such as lead, phosphorus and gold) could be exhausted within the next 60 years.

Ted Cruz appears to mock Pelosi's SOTU handclap at GOP's successful impeachment vote: 'Who did it better?'

FOX News

Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz weighs in on the impeachment trial as it nears the final vote. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, appeared to have some fun at the expense of Democrats, particularly House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, at the Senate impeachment trial of President Trump. In a 51-49 vote Friday, the GOP successfully blocked Democrats' efforts to add additional witnesses to the trial. It was also determined that both the House impeachment managers and Trump's defense team would make closing arguments Monday, with the Senate likely to vote Wednesday to acquit the president of charges of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. However, during a recess, Cruz was seen talking to colleagues and making a particular hand gesture.

Dr. Brad Duchaine, Associate Professor Department of Psychology and Brain Sciences at Dartmouth, says facial recognition is a sophisticated, yet universal skill humans have. "It's really a complicated system and it involves a number of different grey areas (but) visual recognition is something everybody is really good at," Duchaine said. "It comes built-in with the brain. We're capable of doing face processing just minutes after being born." Balas, who has done research on how social interactions can influence face perception and memory, said it's amazing the type of information humans can draw from a quick glance of someone's face.

Ted Cruz, Notable Human Man, Launches Investigation Into Artificial Intelligence

Senator Ted Cruz, long believed to be a human man, will hold Congressional hearings about artificial intelligence tomorrow. And while Gizmodo has yet to confirm or deny the rumors that Ted Cruz is trying to build his own Westworld-style amusement park, we're sure everything is fine. The hearings are titled "The Dawn of Artificial Intelligence," and will include testimony from representatives of Microsoft, Carnegie Mellon University, and NASA, among others. The majority of speakers listed for tomorrow seem pretty optimistic about the future of AI, including Dr. Eric Horvitz of Microsoft. "There have been concerns about the long-term prospect that we lose control of certain kinds of intelligences," Dr. Horvitz told the BBC last year.

What does Siri think of Ted Cruz, Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton and other candidates? - Kristi Gustafson Barlette

This morning, former CBS6 anchor and reporter, Teresa Priolo asked Siri what she thought of Ted Cruz. I loved the idea, so I "stole" it -- asking Siri what she thought of each of the potential candidates for US President. The takeaway: She remains fairly mum on one party, but has lots to offer on the other.
