Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 25th edition of Bengaluru Tech Summit 2022, at a glittering ceremony in the presence of a galaxy of leaders from the IT, BT and start-up sectors. The event was organized by The Department of Electronics, IT, Bt, S&T, Government of Karnataka along with Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), and is the first full-fledged on ground version of BTS post the pandemic. The central theme of BTS this year is'Tech4NexGen' and will focus on Electronics, IT, Deep Tech, Biotech, and Startups. The inaugural ceremony was graced by the Guests of Honor H.E Mr. Petri Honkonen, Minister of Science & Culture, Finland, H.E. Mr. Omar Bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy & Remote Work Applications, United Arab Emirates, H.E. Mr. Tim Watts, Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs, Australia. The ceremony was presided over by Shri Basavaraj S. Bommai, Chief Minister of Karnataka.
Europe's first driverless taxi service has launched in Russia
Europe's first driverless taxi service has launched in Russia. The fleet of autonomous taxis are operated by Yandex – a Russian search engine that boasts many of the same services as Google, including self-driving vehicles, e-commerce, and a voice-activated AI assistant. Yandex has launched its trial project for the driverless fleet in the new town of Innopolis, which is being developed as a'high tech city' in the Republic of Tatarstan. The taxi service ferries passengers between five designated taxi ranks, including stops at the town's university, sports stadium and popular local apartment blocks. The service will free-of-charge to passengers during the trial and Yandex will have an engineer inside the cab at all times to ensure safety should the system fail.

Xinhua, the official press agency of the People's Republic of China has reported that the said park will be situated in the Mentougou district of Beijing, covering 54.87 hectares. The goal is to put a price of 1 trillion yuan on the industry, hosting the investment of 400 business companies and generating an output revenue of 50 billion yuan. The park shall mostly focus on the development of high-speed data, biometrics, cloud computing, a strand of AI known as "deep-learning" comprising practical applications in driverless cars, preventive healthcare, and even better movie recommendations. Tension regarding border security and international relations may ensue, as China not only aims at the expansion of technical advancements and commercialization of AI in'smart cities' but also plans on strengthening military prowess through the use of the same. This has caught the attention of the United States of America as Pentagon has recently reported the rising concern about Chinese firms' investments in US's start-up companies and recommended the use of more stringent controls.

According to the state-run news agency the Xinhua, the campus will be constructed in western Beijing within five years and it will cover around 54.87 hectares. "The technology park will be home to around 400 businesses and is expected to create an annual output value of about 50 billion yuan", the report said. "High-speed big data, cloud computing, biometrics and so-called deep learning, a strand of AI, will be the focus of the new park. It will also have 5G mobile internet, a supercomputer and cloud services", it added.
