Technological crystal ball: MIT creates program to predict future

#artificialintelligence

MIT's computer science and artificial intelligence laboratory has developed technology to "predict the future." When shown videos of various situations (such as people about to kiss or shake hands) their custom computer can correctly predict what happens next about 20 percent of the time. The computer then generates an (as of yet imperfect) visual representation of what it expects to happen. Among the potential applications of this technology are better safety systems for cars. RT's Lindsay France has the story.
