How A.I. Teaches Machines to Discover Drugs
When I first became a doctor, I cared for an older man whom I'll call Ted. He was so sick with pneumonia that he was struggling to breathe. His primary-care physician had prescribed one antibiotic after another, but his symptoms had only worsened; by the time I saw him in the hospital, he had a high fever and was coughing up blood. His lungs seemed to be infected with methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), a bacterium so hardy that few drugs can kill it. I placed an oxygen tube in his nostrils, and one of my colleagues inserted an I.V. into his arm. We decided to give him vancomycin, a last line of defense against otherwise untreatable infections.

Can We Teach Machines To Think Twice?
"PonderNet tries to find a sweet spot between training prediction accuracy, computational cost, and generalisation." As humans, we think many times before speaking our thoughts out loud. But, can we expect the same from machines? Last week, Deepmind introduced PonderNet, a new algorithm that allows artificial neural networks to learn to think for a while before answering. Halting to think is something very familiar to humans.

How To Teach Machines Inside A Browser?
In recent years, the world has seen many major breakthroughs in the field of Machine Learning and so did the libraries used to write these programs. From NumPy to Tensorflow.js, each one faster and equipped with the best available technology of time than the previous one. One such library that we are going to talk about today is ml5.js. I recently started writing Deep Learning apps for browsers and can tell you this is pretty much fun and easy when you want to showcase your work to the general public or create an MVP in a hackathon with a cool dashboard and good-looking UI elements. I started programming on the web mainly because of the fact one can easily create an extensive user experience using just CSS and HTML5.
Artificial Intelligence : Renaissance of Technology
According to the Cambridge dictionary, the meaning of AI is, "the study of how to produce machines that have some of the qualities that the human mind has, such as the ability to understand language, recognize pictures, solve problems, and learn". When a machine is able to make an intelligent decision, it can be referred to as being intelligent, but artificially. We mostly see people using the terms of machine learning, deep learning, and AI synonymously. However, Deep Learning is a subset of Machine Learning, and Machine Learning is a subset of AI. The seeds of modern AI were planted by classical philosophers who attempted to describe the process of human thinking as the mechanical manipulation of symbols.

Is Artificial Intelligence A Myth?
Here is something we all love: tech buzz words and the grand promise of new technologies. You know it's right, because me, you and the person pitching the sales deck use them all the time. "The Internet Of Things will connect everything," "Blockchain will democratize everything," and "AI will solve all of our problems." AI specifically is high on the buzz word list: from traffic jams to climate change, there is a solution, and it is the new breed of machines that can think and act like us. Most of everything that was once plain "digital" is becoming "AI-enabled."
