For example, Russia has made weaponizing AI for military purposes a priority! Artificial intelligence investments have been boosted by the need for enterprise digital transformation during the pandemic. Last year, AI startups raised a collective $73.4 billion in Q4 2020, a $15 billion year-over-year increase.

AI or artificial intelligence is the next big thing in many industries today. The technology is infiltrating every sector and exponentially ramping up the tasks that computers can perform. As a result, even though jobs creation has been growing over the past few months, AI can significantly increase that expansion with a lot more American economic growth and high wage jobs! Starting from fitness-focused smartphone apps that adapt to women's menstrual cycle to autonomous vehicles that use sensors and software to dodge stray animals, AI has influenced every part of human life. It has evolved from being just a trend to a core ingredient virtually across every aspect of computing.

Robotics applications and jobs recruiting are multiplying exponentially as artificial intelligence (AI) breakthroughs accelerate robot improvement. This was discussed during my recent appearance on WGN Radio. The global average for industrial robots per 10,000 manufacturing workers grew from 66 in 2015 to 85 in 2017. This is according to the International Federation of Robotics (IFR). Robotics improvements, such as advanced machine vision and sensors as well as artificial intelligence (AI) breakthoughs have rapidly increased robot breakthroughs.

Artificial intelligence has long been viewed negatively as a job elimination vehicle.

For example, your CAIO will work closely with the CTO and CIO to spearhead new innovative solutions or enhancements to existing products by applying machine learning or deep learning technologies across all aspects of the business.

With the proliferation of AI (Artificial Intelligence) scientific, engineering and technical innovation and its impact on other cutting edge technology fields such as IoT (Internet of Things) and robotics, it may be time for your organization to formulate a job description and start recruiting for a CAIO (Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer). Failure to immediately start this staffing process can harm your business! The Commerce Department reported Friday that U.S. GDP (Gross Domestic Product) ended the 4th quarter of 2016 on a lackluster, inflation and seasonally adjusted annual rate, of only 1.9%. Because GDP is the broadest measure of the goods and services produced by America, this is yet another indication of America's slowest economic expansion since World War II. As a result, this latest data underscores the obstacles facing President Trump as he pushes for economic growth after he has repeatedly stating a goal of 4% expansion in his one year!

I was quoted in the December 15, 2016 article by Terry Costlow in IEEE-USA InSight entitled "Proceed with Caution: Balancing the Allure of Tech Fads." This is one of the main publications for electrical engineering worldwide. The focus was on job training for engineers and IT talent, ranging from an engineer who is still in college looking to start their career to an experienced engineering professional looking to augment their career. Specifically, Mr. Costlow wanted to know what engineering, scientific or technology skills or development tools a scientist, engineer, technical, IT or R&D job seeker should focus on learning for long-term benefit? Should they focus on Google Glass, Cloud computing, AI (artificial intelligence), VR (virtual reality), robotics or another hot innovation?
