Halo Infinite Made Me Love Gaming With Friends Again
Its memory manipulation makes us hyperinflate the value or quality of past relationships, experiences, things we loved. When we see them again, the disappointment can be a shock. No, Speed Racer was not a good cartoon show. No, your grade school crush wasn't that impressed at your spelling test scores. But yes, the first Halo game was, and still is, the greatest first-person shooter video game ever made. It all adds up to an unforgettable experience that begins what becomes an iconic trilogy of titles.
The first 'Shadow of the Tomb Raider' DLC arrives November 13th
Basically every big-name video game has extra downloadable content at this point, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider is no exception. For those who picked up the game's season pass, Square Enix just announced when the first of seven expansion quests will arrive. The Forge is set to launch on November 13th for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. As previously announced, it'll be the first bit of co-op gameplay for Shadow, and it should be different than the co-op "endurance mode" that was featured in one of the expansions released for 2015's Rise of the Tomb Raider. Unfortunately, there aren't many details about how co-op play will work, which is a shame as it's one of the more unique things to be added to the series this time out.
'Shadow of the Tomb Raider' expansions include a co-op mode
Shadow of the Tomb Raider is all about the Mayan apocalypse, but the end of the narrative isn't the end of the world game. Developer/publisher Square Enix today unveiled what'll be included in Lara's latest season pass. Rather than calling them expansions this time out, the nomenclature is "Paths," and there are seven total as spotted by USGamer. Each will have its own challenge tomb, story, skill, outfit and weapons. They'll be doled out on a monthly basis and the first will add co-op play of some sort.
Server crashes, 40GB patches and DLC: gaming's biggest irritations explained
Video games have changed immeasurably since the days of tape loading and cover-mounted floppy discs. Today, we get lifelike 3D virtual worlds where the player can seamlessly connect with companions and opponents from every corner of the globe. An online triple-A title will now offer literally hundreds of hours of fun spread across years of play. Yet, inflation aside, the price we pay at the till remains the same now as it was 25 years ago. To make this possible, a lot of things have changed about the way the games industry works โ but those changes haven't always been well received.
Nintendo Does Its Best To Explain The Reasoning Behind The DLC For 'Zelda: Breath Of The Wild'
With the news that Zelda: Breath of the Wild will feature DLC, it has been met with a very mixed response by fans. In a recent interview, Nintendo's Bill Trinen does his best to explain the reasoning behind this decision. The main takeaway from Trinen's explanation (starting at 41:42 in the below video) is that Breath of the Wild is obviously a very large game in terms of its content and production. The DLC in that sense is a byproduct of that, as the complexity of developing an open world game means there is more left to do. So this DLC release, in part, is Nintendo's attempt at including absolutely everything it can from Breath of the Wild's production. In all honesty, this is entirely understandable.
'The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild' Will Have Paid DLC, Season Pass
For the first time ever, a Zelda game will have paid downloadable content released after the launch of the main game. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will have a Season Pass (or Expansion Pass in Nintendo parlance) for $19.99 that includes two DLC packs. The first release comes this summer and includes a Cave of Trials challenge, a new hard mode and a mysterious new feature for the in-game map. The second DLC pack launches Holiday 2017 and includes a new dungeon and new story content. These can only be purchased together.
