Adobe has "rearchitected" its creative apps, including Photoshop, its video editing software Premiere and its 3D design platform Substance 3D to "take full advantage" of NVIDIA's RTX Spark, according to company VP Deepa Subramaniam. RTX Spark is NVIDIA's new system-on-chip (SoC) that's meant to give Windows laptops and small desktops the capability to run AI tasks locally on device. Unlike NVIDIA's DGX Spark, which mainly targets companies and AI developers, RTX Spark is more accessible to creatives and novice developers. "Our apps like Photoshop, Premiere and Substance are trusted by the world's most talented storytellers, from photographers and designers creating iconic campaigns, to filmmakers and editors bringing award-winning film and television to life, to artists creating characters and visual effects that bring those stories to the screen," Subramaniam said. "For this audience, performance across creative workflows is critical to allow them to stay focused on their story and craft."

The Microsoft Windows and Surface event will take place in San Francisco later today, beginning at 10AM PT (1PM ET), and there's a lot we expect to see. It's certainly going to be a very AI-focused event. According to Microsoft, it will center on a "conversation on how local AI will shape the next chapter of the PC." NVIDIA is once again claiming it will redefine PCs with its RTX Spark, the company's first major Arm-powered chip built for massive AI models on Windows laptops and desktops. The Surface Laptop Ultra, which was announced in June, is one of the first devices powered by RTX Spark, and from the brief glimpse we got earlier this year, it appears to be a direct competitor to Apple's powerful MacBook Pro. It sports a 15-inch mini-LED screen with up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness, a massive trackpad and all the ports you want. But we still don't know how much the Surface Laptop Ultra will actually cost, and there's no concrete release date yet. I'd bet the company is saving up those crucial details for next week's event.

Acer introduced a pair of petite PCs today. First up is the Acer SFF RTX Spark, a compact desktop designed for running AI agents. The company hasn't revealed many details, including price or availability, but it is the first look at how Acer will integrate some of the latest developments from NVIDIA. It's equipped with the NVIDIA RTX Spark, the "superchip" unveiled earlier this summer that boasts up to a petaflop of computing power.
