A national strategy for RAS innovation from a'RAS Special Interest Group' was published by Innovate UK in 2014. The Government responded to that strategy in March 2015 (PDF 405 KB) and agreed to establish a RAS Leadership Council to oversee its execution. The Special Interest Group also published The UK Landscape for Robotics and Autonomous Systems in 2015.

The UK Government has initiated an inquiry into Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (AI), given its rising influence and daunting advancement in technology. They intend to determine what impact the rise of AI will have at a holistic level on the workforce and the society in general. Further, the corresponding social, legal and ethical aspects also need to be scrutinized. This inquiry will be carried out by the House of Commons Science and Technology Committee.
