Ecovacs' latest robot mower adds smarter mapping and an integrated trimmer The Goat LiDAR Pro arrives at CES with the promise of solving common robot mower complaints, from poor edge coverage to inconsistent navigation. Ecovacs has introduced a new robot mower at CES as the company pushes further into lawn care. The Goat LiDAR Pro brings smarter navigation and more complete edge trimming, aiming to reduce the cleanup typically left behind by earlier-generation robot mowers. Equipped with Ecovacs's HoloScope 360 suite, the Goat LiDAR Pro uses a combination of LiDAR and vision sensors to map the mowing area in three dimensions, enabling more precise path planning and obstacle avoidance.

Ecovacs Goat A3000 review: This mower isn't Greatest of all Time

PCWorld

When you purchase through links in our articles, we may earn a small commission. This powerful robot lawn mower is very good at its game, but the competition is tough and there are even better choices out there. While the Ecovacs Goat A3000 excels in a few areas, its shortcomings are disruptive enough to give us pause. Robot lawn mowers are very similar to robot vacuum cleaners, at least in principle. So, it shouldn't come as a surprise that a leading robot vacuum manufacturer--namely, Ecovacs--should try its hand at building them.

When you purchase through links in our articles, we may earn a small commission. Robots aren't just for cleaning your home's floors anymore, this variety of autonomous machine will keep your lawns manicured--and you out of the brutal sun. Pardon the pun, but oh my, has the landscape shifted in terms of robot lawn mowers. Five years ago, when I first started covering this smart home category, there were just two brands to choose from: Husqvarna and Worx. Today, there are dozen or so manufacturers vying for the mantle of best robot mower, albeit with varying success. Prices have come down dramatically, too.

Segway Navimow X350 review: High-end mower, not-so-high price

PCWorld

Segway's all-new Navimow X350 robot lawn mower is a big step up from its earlier Navimow I- and H-series, which remain available. Segway's all-new Navimow X3 series of robot lawn mowers boasts enhanced navigation savvy and onboard AI. The Navimow X350 reviewed here is a big step up from the Navimow i110n mower I reviewed in 2024. The Navimow i110n's navigation was the best in its class at the time, and its cutting performance is fantastic. That said, I found the older mower--which will continue to be available for sale--to be underpowered, and it had an uncanny ability to find its way onto the street during my review period due to its poor cliff detection.

Segway's robot mower spared me from my least favorite chore

Engadget

I'm sure some of you have looked at robo mowers as Roombas for your yard but, sadly, many of them require you to install a boundary wire around the perimeter of your lawn. And any product that requires you to dig a trench is the opposite of what "low effort" means to me. That's why I was interested in trying Segway's Navimow i105, its 945 (around 1,200) GPS-equipped mower which eliminates that busywork. And keeping your lawn neat and tidy is a job that's all busywork. Ask a gardener and they'll tell you the secret to a great lawn is to seed a piece of flat land and then mow it into submission.

Warning that robot lawnmowers are killing hedgehogs: Scientists propose must-have garden gadgets come with 'safety certificates'

Daily Mail - Science & tech

Hedgehogs are increasingly being killed and injured from encounters with robot lawnmowers which have few safety features to protect wildlife, according to Oxford University scientists. Researchers conducted a series of tests with the mowers, the latest must-have garden gadget, with a view to create a'hedgehog friendly' certification so gardeners need not fear any prickly casualties when they trim the grass. To ensure no harm was caused to living hedgehogs, scientists used rubber'crash test hedgehogs' instead to see if the robot mower would turn away on encountering one of Mrs Tiggywinkle's tribe on the lawn. Hedgehogs are already in serious decline, with reasons including habitat loss, road traffic accidents, intensive agriculture, and injuries from dog bites and garden strimmers. But now mowers are adding to the threats.

iRobot Finally Announces Awesome New Terra Robotic Lawnmower

IEEE Spectrum Robotics

Since the first Roomba came out in 2002, it has seemed inevitable that one day iRobot would develop a robotic lawnmower. After all, a robot mower is basically just a Roomba that works outside, right? Of course, it's not nearly that simple, as iRobot has spent the last decade or so discovering, but they've finally managed to pull it off. Today, iRobot is previewing its Terra robotic mower. It's rugged, fully autonomous, and literally wireless, using radio beacons to localize rather than relying on a buried edge wire to keep it from mulching your begonias.

Robot Lawnmowers Are Killing Hedgehogs

WIRED

While Americans still wrangle their overgrown lawns by pushing or riding a lawnmower, many Europeans have handed off that responsibility to robots. These beefy, Roomba-like mowers loop their way around a yard, keeping grass trim and neat. To many of their users, the bots are endearing. Their owners give them names or cover them in decals of ladybugs or bumblebees. But the sentimentality only goes so far, because these blades-on-wheels have also been slicing up something other than grass: hedgehogs.
