Ikea's New Designer Collection Is Home-Office Heaven
Ikea's New Designer Collection Is Home-Office Heaven From a twisty lamp to a bendy clock, the Swedish company's full 2026 PS Collection has dropped. It's a boon for those looking to refine their homes and workstations. Now that the hubbub of the cat-tested blow-up chair has calmed down, Ikea has taken the wraps off the rest of its latest PS Collection (which stands for Post Scriptum). Consisting of 44 pieces, including the viral inflatable PS 2026 Easy Chair, the furniture brand says the theme of the 2026 PS Collection is playful functionality. The new PS Collection (available in stores from May 14, then online from May 22) has not one but two options for accommodating impromptu sleepovers.

Airfare Keeps Going Up. Here Are Some Tricks to Finding Cheap(er) Tickets
It's an expensive time to fly. These tips can help lighten the load on your wallet. As a general rule, global instability leads to higher prices, and boy, is the world a doozy right now . Airfare hasn't escaped the tumult: US airfares are up 14.9 percent compared to a year ago, according to NerdWallet, largely due to fuel price spikes linked to disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz caused by blockages, bombs, and blockades. While the medium-term outlook for the airline business isn't great, there are still a few smart and tricky ways to save a little money when flying this summer.

5 Reasons to Think Twice Before Using ChatGPT--or Any Chatbot--for Financial Advice
As people increasingly rely on AI chatbots for guidance, even on financial matters, a healthy dose of skepticism is critical. I've used ChatGPT to help me build a budget before, and it was genuinely helpful. After I input my monthly salary as well as my standard utilities and recurring expenses, the chatbot drafted a few solid options, and I tweaked them into penny-pinching perfection. "Millions of people turn to ChatGPT with money-related questions, from understanding debt to building budgets and learning financial concepts," says Niko Felix, an OpenAI spokesperson, when reached for comment. "ChatGPT can be a helpful tool for exploring options, preparing questions, and making financial topics easier to understand, but it is not a substitute for licensed financial professionals." OpenAI's Terms of Use state that the AI tool is not meant to replace professional financial advice.

These New Smart Glasses From Ex-OnePlus Engineers Have a Hidden Cost
The Kickstarter-funded glasses from L'Atitude 52 N have AI features bundled for 1 year, but the company doesn't know yet how much it will charge for access after that. Lots of smart glasses have AI bots inside them now. The one in L'Atitude 52 N's glasses is called Goya, named after Francisco Goya, the famous Spanish artist who painted renowned masterpieces of romanticism. CEO and founder Gary Chen, who has worked on wearable devices for companies like Oppo, OnePlus, and HTC, says his company's glasses are focused on travelers, with AI features that act like a tour guide and talk about all the paintings in famous museums. "Basically, you can say, 'Hey, Goya, what is the story about Mona Lisa?'" Chen says. "You can ask anything and, with your permission, they will take a photo to analyze what's in front of you."

This AI Tool Will Tell You to Stop Slacking Off
Fomi watches you work, then scolds you when your attention wanders. It's helpful, but there are privacy issues to consider. I've tested a lot of software tools over the years designed to block distractions and keep you focused. None of them work perfectly, mostly because of context. Reddit, for example, is something I should generally avoid during the workday, so I tend to block it--this is a good decision for me overall.

The Simplest Android App for Scanning Documents
Most scanning apps try to get you to buy a cloud storage subscription or pay for extras. Not FairScan, which is free and open-source, and has some powerful features. If you're interested in going paperless, you probably think you need a scanner. It's true that hardware scanners make turning multipage documents into PDFs very simple. But most of us don't have easy access to a scanner.

Makers Are Building Back Against ICE
In hacker spaces and at their homes, creative protesters are laser-cutting and 3D-printing tools to resist an occupation. As the US government's immigration crackdown expands across the country, anxious residents have mobilized to look out for each other. One way they're doing that is by finding ways to build the tools they need to be resilient against the surge of Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents empowered to kill with impunity . All over the country, makers are 3D-printing thousands of whistles to help people on the ground alert others to nearby ICE activity. But the whistles are far from the only tools being used to respond to the surge of federal agents.

Google's AI Overviews Can Scam You. Here's How to Stay Safe
Beyond mistakes or nonsense, deliberately bad information being injected into AI search summaries is leading people down potentially harmful paths. These days, rather than showing you the traditional list of links when you run a search query, Google is intent on throwing up AI Overviews instead: synthesized summaries of information scraped off the web, with some word-prediction magic added, and packaged together in a way to sound as accurate and reliable as possible. We've written before about some of the problems with these AI Overviews, which regularly contain mistakes or nonsense, and of course rip off the work of the human writers who actually know the answers to the questions you're putting into Google. There's another problem though--these AI answers can actually be dangerous. As with every other new technology through history, scams are now making their way into AI Overviews as well, apparently injecting Google's AI answers with fraudulent phone numbers that you shouldn't trust.
