Why your digital games could vanish in a heartbeat
News that GOG.com has delisted 29 games this month is a sobering reminder that at any moment the games you own could vanish from your PC game libraries at any time and there's not much you can do about it. Admittedly, GOG's games include titles that many gamers may not have heard about. But history has shown that this happens to well-known titles too and on platforms with millions of users like Steam and Origin. So how is it that something you've legitimately bought can be whipped away in a heartbeat? Don't we have consumer protection laws against that?

Three Must-Own Books for Deep Learning Practitioners
Developing neural networks is often referred to as a dark art. The reason for this is that being skilled at developing neural network models comes from experience. There are no reliable methods to analytically calculate how to design a "good" or "best" model for your specific dataset. You must draw on experience and experiment in order to discover what works on your problem. A lot of this experience can come from actually developing neural networks on test problems.

Physical copies of music such as CDs are outselling digital versions
CDs and vinyls are outselling digital downloads for the first time since 2011 thanks to streaming services, industry figures reveal. Apps like Spotify and Apple Music have seen an astronomical rise in popularity in recent years and this has all but destroyed the digital download market. As more people choose to stream music rather than own it, sales of physical media are now falling at a slower rate than their digital counterparts. This has been driven, in part, by a resurgence in vinyl sales among audiophiles, who prize the format's unique sound. CD's and vinyl copies of music are outselling their digital counterparts for the first time since 2011.

Microsoft Wants To Pay Xbox One Players For Preowned Digital Games
Microsoft wants to let Xbox One gamers trade in digital games as if they were physical copies. A Microsoft survey of players spotted by WindowsCentral on Monday asked whether gamers would be interested in a system where players could sell back their games for 10 percent of their value, given to the player as store credit. The move would essentially mean that players could give up access to previously bought games in exchange for money. This is a major advantage physical copies have over digital copies, where selling media is a breeze. The move would help alleviate one of the major concerns about gaming's shift to digital, particularly in an industry dominated by the used game market.
