Everything Apple announced during its unofficial Mac Week
Following the illustrious line of calendar-spanning corporate events like Lobsterfest and Shark Week, Apple tried something new this year with a celebration unofficially known as Mac Week. The company's three-day product rollout for desktop hardware centered around the M4 chip, built for Apple Intelligence. The M4-powered iMac has the same design (apart from some new colors) but with more horsepower inside. Apple says the all-in-one desktop is 1.7 times faster for daily productivity and 2.1 times faster for more demanding tasks like gaming or photo editing. Like all new Macs announced this week, it loses the measly 8GB of RAM previously seen in the cheapest Macs, jumping to 16GB as the baseline.

We need to talk about the Midjourney Discord-based AI image generator
Extremely realistic-looking images can now be created almost instantaneously by artificially intelligent internet bots. Should photographers, illustrators and graphic designers be threatened by this new industry development? In recent years, AI and smart programs have been advancing, especially in the fields of art, design and photography. Even Google is developing a new advanced AI system (opens in new tab) that can create hyper-realistic images from just a basic text prompt. You might be familiar with an AI program called the Dall-E Mini (opens in new tab), which set the internet abuzz a few months back with the ability to create any image you ask it for, and the results are completely original, too.
Council Post: What Is The Future Of Artificial Intelligence In Photo Editing?
Ben Meisner is the Founder of the leading online photo editing platform Ribbet.com. Artificial intelligence (AI) may seem like a buzzword of the 21st century, but it entered the human psyche some time ago. A Harvard article on the history of AI points out that science fiction brought the concept into our minds in the first half of the 20th century through characters like the Tin Man in The Wizard of Oz and the humanoid robot impersonating Maria in Metropolis. Mankind is now taking the concept from idea to reality, and today AI has tremendous application in everything from medicine, construction and finance to home appliances, social media and copywriting. It has the unique capability to quickly learn from significant amounts of data, enabling it to tackle some of our most challenging technological issues.
How artificial intelligence helps to fix a photographer's most precious commodity
When you think of artificial intelligence, you may think of a robotic dystopian future or the exceedingly long movie from 2001. But to me, artificial intelligence brings plenty of hope to the world, if for no other reason than to make human lives easier. Our lives are busy and full of opportunity. With AI in our corner, couldn't we accomplish so much more? We'll have a chance to test that theory with the upcoming release of LuminarAI.
Luminar AI Uses Human-Inspired Artificial Intelligence for A Faster Editing Experience
With traditional photo editors, creating the perfect photo is a time-consuming process that involves moving dozens of sliders. Many seek to use presets to speed this up, but there are severe limitations. Presets tend to only work on images that are virtually identical to the original. To change this tedious and frustrating process, innovative companies race to embrace Artificial Intelligence. But some creatives have been skeptical about its effectiveness and limitations.
What If You Had An Intelligent Assistant for Photo Editing?
Our Adobe Research team is exploring what an intelligent digital assistant photo editing might look like. To envision this, we combined the emerging science of voice interaction with a deep understanding of both creative workflows and the creative aspirations of our customers. Our speech recognition system is able to directly accept natural user voice instructions for image editing either locally through on-device computing or through a cloud-based Natural Language understanding service. This is a first step towards a robust multimodal voice-based interface which allows our creative customers to search and edit images in an easy and engaging way using Adobe mobile applications.
