Peter Scott (AI leader and author of Artificial Intelligence and You) is an expert on all things AI, Peter Scott is on a mission to help us to get along with artificial intelligence. He has given TEDx talks, spoken to audiences as diverse as transformational leaders, executives, and British parliamentarians, and created a program to train coaches in helping clients become resilient to exponential disruption. A Master's degree in computer science from Cambridge University led him to spend more than thirty years working for NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, helping advance our exploration of space. A parallel pursuit of the human development field as a certified coach positioned him to recognize and address technological disruption. The births of his children brought him into a mission, to help people understand, use, and advance AI for the betterment of all.

The new hub aims to take Stowmarket a step closer to its ambition of developing a high-tech Centre of Excellence by offering a co-working space with advice and guidance to start-up businesses. The aim is to support innovation, entrepreneurship, business growth and the development of an AI Centre of Excellence. Backed by Mid Suffolk District Council, Tech East and the New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), it is hoped the hub will eventually form the focal point for developing a cluster of technology and manufacturing companies.

As a technology of which we're still yet to fully realize the potential, scriptwriters and technology doomsdayers have been busy predicting a time when AI spins out of our control, and we're forced to welcome our robot overlords. But how accurate are some of pop culture's most well-known AI creations? Communications provider Plusnet sought to find out by asking Peter Scott, an author on AI and former computer scientist at NASA, to grade the AI predictions of some of Sci-Fi greatest movies. Ridley Scott's 80s Sci-Fi masterpiece may be held in the highest esteem in film circles, but when it comes to how well it predicts the direction of artificial intelligence, experts find it wanting. Set in 2019, the film is making a prediction 37 years in the future (45 years if you count the release date of the original book on which it's based).
