NTT to launch 16.5 billion tender offer for NTT data in AI push
NTT plans to make its AI powerhouse NTT Data Group a wholly owned subsidiary in a deal worth 2.37 trillion ( 16.5 billion), the latest in a series of Japanese parent companies absorbing their listed units. The country's biggest telecom operator is launching a tender offer of 4,000 per share for all stock it doesn't own in NTT Data. That represents a premium of 34% to its close the previous day. The tender will take place from Friday to June 19, with NTT Data to delist after the tender. News of the deal sent NTT Data shares up by their daily limit of 17% on Thursday, its highest in 25 years.

Japan's NTT invests in medical imaging AI start-up DeepTek - The Financial Express
Japanese IT service provider, NTT DATA has invested in medical imaging AI start-up company DeepTek. NTT has not disclosed the size of investment. Ajit Patil, co-founder, DeepTek, said this was a seed stage funding and NTT had picked up 10-15% stake in the company and they had formed a strategic equity partnership with NTT Data. This funding would take care of their need for around two and half years but they are looking at further global alliances and venture funding, he said. DeepTek is co-founded by Dr Amit Kharat a leading radiologist in the country, Aniruddha Pant an AI technology expert with a Berkeley University PhD, and Ajit Patil, a serial entrepreneur, whose earlier start-up exited to NTT DATA Corp.

Dell selling IT unit to NTT Data for more than 3 billion
Dell Inc. is selling its Dell Services information technology unit to NTT Data Inc. for just over 3 billion as part of its ongoing reorganization plan. Dell had purchased the business for 3.9 billion in 2009 when it was Perot Systems, founded by billionaire and onetime presidential candidate Ross Perot. The sale comes as privately-held Dell prepares to buy data storage provider EMC for 67 billion and tries to reinvent itself as more than just a personal computer company. That deal was announced in October and was initially targeted to close in the second or third quarter of Dell's fiscal year ending Feb. 3, 2017. Japan-based NTT Data focuses on information technology in the medical field, including medical records and billing.
