Apple users are one step closer to being able to viably travel around the country with nothing but an iPhone in their pocket. On Wednesday, the company announced "Digital ID," a new feature that lets users store a mobile version of their passport in the Wallet app. Once uploaded, iPhone and Apple Watch users can present their Digital ID to pass through TSA security checkpoints at 250 airports in the US.

Tesla executives have claimed that there was a driver behind the wheel when one of the company's cars was involved in a crash that killed two men. This would be an ordinary assumption for other cars, but investigators' initial probe concluded that nobody was driving the Tesla Model S – which is fitted with self-driving, 'Autopilot' capabilities. "We have witness statements from people that said they left to test drive the vehicle without a driver and to show the friend how it can drive itself," Mark Herman from Harris County Precinct 4 was quoted saying in the report. The police were "100 per cent certain that no one was in the driver's seat," Herman told a Houston radio station, according to the Washington Post. One of the victims was found in the passenger seat, while the other was in the back seat, according to the police.

Apple has unveiled all the new features heading to iPhones and iPads at its developer conference in San Francisco on Monday, including speed boost for even older devices, improved privacy and a host of new features. The look of iOS 12 will be very familiar, with the company focusing on improving the experience and the underlying software rather than simply splashing on a new coat of paint. The new iOS 12 will be available for any device running iOS 11 now, which means any Apple smartphone from the iPhone 5S or newer, and any iPad from the iPad mini 2 and iPad Air or newer, plus the sixth generation iPod touch. The developer version is available now, but the first public beta is due later in June, for those eager to test it as soon as possible. A final release will be available in September for everyone else.

The new Apple features are among the software updates previewed Monday at the company's annual Worldwide Developers Conference in San Jose, California. These and other features won't reach users for a few months; rather, they were being shown to give software developers a chance to build new apps to make iPhones and other Apple devices more useful. The next iPhone software, iOS 12, is expected in September following the announcements on new iPhones, for instance.
