Council Post: AI Is The New Internet, But DIY AI Can Leave Most Enterprises Reeling
Some business functions are suitable for a "do it yourself" approach, and some aren't. A DIY approach to AI is expensive, time-consuming and a better fit for experimentation than organization-wide deployments. Instead, innovative and forward-looking organizations are thinking more holistically about their approach to enterprise AI, turning to outside experts to unlock new efficiencies and accelerate time to market. For years, AI was characterized as a futuristic technology -- something out of sci-fi films like The Matrix but not a tool for businesses to wield. However, that perception has dramatically changed in recent years.
AI Is The New Internet
Artificial Intelligence, A Branch of Computer Science, has been discussed around by everyone in the past years, from scientists, programmers, salespeople, and to everyday people. Few have the understanding of the technology behind it and little know of its incredible and infinite potential. Well, look at it this way. Internet at the moment is everywhere, right? In 10 years or less, AI will also be everywhere.
Welcome to the Metastructure: The New Internet of Transportation
Though I haven't lived there for nearly three decades, I still consider myself a citizen of Los Angeles. That means, among other things, I drive. For me, a car is like a suit or a good exoskeleton. Road trips, going 100 miles per hour on a freeway, racing through Park La Brea--they're all sewn as tightly into my DNA as ice-skating in Central Park is for a New Yorker. Despite that heritage, I've been running an experiment on myself and my hometown. My last three trips there, I didn't rent a car; it's been nothing but taxis, Uber, and one time I borrowed my dad's. Not only did I move through space and time every bit as efficiently--more, if you believe that screwing around on Twitter and email is useful--I took new routes.
