Google's wired Nest security camera is cheaper than ever
Google's wired Nest security camera has dropped to its lowest price to date. The second-gen device is for indoor use and it's motion sensitive. You can snap one up for 70, which is 30 or 30 percent off the regular price of 100, at Amazon if you opt for the fog or linen colorway. However, if you go for the snow variant you can save a little more. That one is on sale for 67.59, or 32 percent off.
Google warns Nest camera owners to reset their passwords after hackers take over numerous devices
Google is telling Nest camera owners that it's not to blame for a recent string of creepy security incidents. The search giant, which owns Nest, sent an email to owners of its security devices telling them to reset their passwords and enable stronger account authentication settings in light of an uptick in hacked cameras. Last month, users began reporting a number of bizarre cases, where hackers appeared to take over their Nest security cameras to hurl insults at them, spy on their sleeping baby and even tell Amazon's Alexa to play'Despacito' by Justin Bieber. Nest told users that the company notifies users if they detect their email was part of another website breach. When this happens, the firm will proactively disable their Nest account as a security measure.

A north Phoenix resident said he wants to warn others that these devices aren't as secure as you may think. Andy Gregg, a real-estate agent in north Phoenix, says a hacker spoke to him through his Nest security camera. Andy Gregg was in his back yard a few weeks ago when he heard a voice he didn't recognize inside his house. It was dark, and Gregg, who lives in the north Phoenix, said his first thought was somebody had broken into his home. The source of the voice surprised him: It was coming from a Nest Cam IQ security camera in his front window.

You Can Now Talk to Your Nest Security Camera
If Google made one point at this year's CES conference, it was that it's putting the Google Assistant in all sorts of devices, from TVs to speakers, in an effort to oust Amazon's Alexa as the most important digital helper in your home. Now, the Google Assistant is coming to yet another home device: the Nest Cam IQ indoor security camera. Those who own the camera will have the option to add the Google Assistant via a software update starting Wednesday. Using the Google Assistant through the Nest Cam IQ indoor camera will be very similar to how one would use it through the Google Home or any other compatible device. Owners will be able to verbally ask their Nest camera for the weather, questions about their calendar, and to control smart home devices, among other queries.
