To all Dreamers, it's time to take action! I am so inspired by the warm welcome this year! And really delighted to inspire you all to take your #ai action strategically and ethically with AI Tech UK! I am so excited to announce the launch of the first AI Accelerator programme backed by Leeds City Council, and funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund If you are planning for business growth, want to improve efficiencies, gain a competitive edge, and are interested in the role of data and technology, then this programme is for you! You do not need to be a "techie", you just need to be an enthusiast.

MINDFUL AI. I'm sitting here thinking about AI. So…

#artificialintelligence

Simply impossible to keep track of; There seem to be no boundaries when it comes to AI. Technologically, AI is being pushed from all sides and integrated into almost every aspect of our lives. But as far as the ethical, sociological, philosophical, and psychological aspects are concerned, we are more or less treading water. Don't get me wrong, there is much excellent work in these areas, but I get the feeling that it is not taken seriously enough (especially by the Big Techs). Everything they do in this area seems like tokenism. Developing a new and better algorithm appears easier than creating an ethical concept and integrating it.

A Solution to DALL·E 2's AI Bias Problem

Take a look at voice applications. When applying a mindful AI approach, and leveraging the power of a global talent pool, developers can account for linguistic elements such as different dialects and accents in the data sets. Many of the people we rely on to crowdsource at Pactera EDGE are not full-time employees, but they develop expertise working regularly in our projects. We use modules and tests to identify and reward those with the strongest capabilities at translation and those that produce the best outcomes for our clients. Establishing a human-centered design framework from the beginning is critical.

How Meta Is Making Artificial Intelligence More Inclusive

#artificialintelligence

Artificial intelligence (AI) must be inclusive to reach its potential. AI applications that solve problems for a small segment of the population will fail to achieve widespread adoption. So, it's important that AI applications be designed and prepared with data that reflects as many segments of the global population as possible. Many moving parts need to be managed well to do that, and one of them is language. The more languages an AI application can handle, the more inclusive it is.

Stop Blaming Humans for Bias in AI - KDnuggets

For example, when applying a mindful AI approach and leveraging the power of a global talent pool, developers can account for linguistic elements such as different dialects and accents in the data sets. At a recent Fortune Most Powerful Women Summit, speakers underscored the value of putting in place a diverse team of people. For instance, Lisa Edwards, president and COO of Diligent, said that having people from diverse backgrounds in data science governance positions prevents a situation where a group's bias simply reinforces the technology's bias. Mindful AI extends that notion to the resources that companies use to perform data collection and curation. Establishing a human-centered design framework from the beginning is critical.

How to Make AI More Inclusive from the Farms to the Fields

#artificialintelligence

Artificial intelligence (AI) is on the cusp of becoming democratic, inclusive, and useful to people living in under-served places in some very exciting ways. We believe an approach we call Mindful AI can help AI realize its potential to be more inclusive and human-centered, too. McKinsey's James Manyika interviewed Kevin to discuss concepts related to Kevin's recently published book, Reprogramming the American Dream: From Rural America to Silicon Valley – Making AI Serve Us All. The book draws on Kevin's personal experiences to show how AI can become more inclusive by helping people who live in under-served areas ranging from rural towns to working-class communities. For instance, as reported in The Wall Street Journal, Microsoft's FarmBeats program uses AI to improve farming.

Artificial Intelligence: Coming Soon to a Barnyard Near You

In a recent McKinsey Future of Work podcast interview with Microsoft Chief Technology Officer Kevin Scott, the CTO revealed that artificial intelligence (AI) is about to go prime time and will begin showing up in the most unlikely of places – including our nation's farm fields Once a mysterious science being beta-tested by only Fortune 100 companies, AI is rapidly becoming more democratic, inclusive, and utilitarian – to even those residing in under-served communities. It's also becoming a versatile tool that can branch out to myriad market sectors, including one of our oldest – agriculture. Scott recently published a book entitled Reprogramming the American Dream: From Rural America to Silicon Valley – Making AI Serve Us All. The findings come from his personal experiences with AI being implemented to service populations in rural towns and working-class communities, rather than just hi-tech cities or corner offices. The Wall Street Journal recently reported on Microsoft's FarmBeats program – a platform that leverages AI to improve farming outcomes.
