AI Based Font Pair Suggestion Modelling For Graphic Design

Singh, Aryan, Bhakthavatsalam, Sumithra

arXiv.org Artificial Intelligence

Font recommendation, deep learning, NLP, computer vision, Designer, AI One of the key challenges of AI generated designs in Microsoft Designer is selecting the most contextually relevant and novel fonts for the design suggestions. Previous efforts involved manually mapping design intent to fonts. Though this was high quality, this method does not scale for a large number of fonts (3000+) and numerous user intents for graphic design. In this work we create font visual embeddings, a font stroke width algorithm, a font category to font mapping dataset, an LLM-based category utilization description and a lightweight, low latency knowledge-distilled mini language model (Mini LM V2) to recommend multiple pairs of contextual heading and subheading fonts for beautiful and intuitive designs. We also utilize a weighted scoring mechanism, nearest neighbor approach and stratified sampling to rank the font pairs and bring novelty to the predictions.

Microsoft Designer and its AI art will soon land on your PC

PCWorld

Microsoft Designer's AI art and editing capabilities are becoming more formally integrated into Windows and Microsoft's services today, as they move into Photos, Word, and PowerPoint. Designer is the next stage of Microsoft's evolution of AI art, which began in 2022 with Bing Image Creator, migrated to the more advanced Dall-E 2 model, then became part of Microsoft Designer, the wonderful AI-powered design tool that debuted in 2022. Designer's layout elements compete directly with Canva, but Microsoft isn't confining the Designer elements to just the app. The most simple integration is within Word and PowerPoint. You'll need a Copilot Pro subscription, but if you have one, you'll be able to use AI to generate a background for a PowerPoint slide or an integrated graphic inside of a Word document.

Microsoft's wins, fails, and WTF moments of 2023

PCWorld

The year 2023 was a roller-coaster ride for Microsoft, as the tech giant faced both triumphs and tribulations in its quest to dominate the industry. From launching new products and services, to dealing with lawsuits and scandals, to making some surprising moves and announcements, Microsoft had its share of wins, fails, and WTF moments. I asked Microsoft Copilot to write that, saving me a precious minute or two. And then it happily gave me an example: the launch of Windows 11…which, of course, actually happened in October of 2021. So, yeah, that was Microsoft's 2023 in a nutshell: All the promise of AI, tempered with the reality that it still needs a lot of work.

Microsoft will ID its AI art with a hidden watermark

PCWorld

Artists concerned about others passing off AI-generated art as their own will now be able to breathe a bit easier: Microsoft has agreed to sign all AI art that its apps generate with a cryptographic watermark indicating it was made with an algorithm. The Coalition for Content Provenance and Authority (C2PA) began work in 2021 to develop an open standard for indicating the origin of digital images, and whether they were authentic or AI-generated. The issue was thrust into the spotlight in March, when AI-generated images of the Pope in a stylish puffy jacket went viral, and AI-art generator Midjourney clamped down to prevent even more. Microsoft, a founding member of the C2PA, will announce at its Microsoft Build developer conference this week that it will cryptographically sign AI-generated images from Bing Image Creator and Microsoft Designer. Images made with Bing Image Creator already include a small "b" for the Bing logo in the bottom right-hand corner.

Microsoft Designer's superb, free AI art tools open to everyone

PCWorld

Microsoft is taking its superb AI art / visual designer tool, Microsoft Designer, and opening it up to the general public today. The company is also publicizing its intelligent features: AI-generated captions and hashtags, new image formatting for social media, and AI-powered editing tools. We called Microsoft Designer nearly an AI masterpiece when we went hands-on with the tool several months ago, and now you have a chance to try it out for yourself, too. While Designer doesn't fall into the category of the best AI art generator tools, it stands nearly alone with Canva and Adobe's design tools as a way to develop a holistic design from the ground up. You can try Microsoft Designer here.

Microsoft Designer. If I had to describe Microsoft Designer…

#artificialintelligence

If I had to describe Microsoft Designer in just one sentence, I'd say it's like a fusion of Canva and ChatGPT. The Microsoft Designer application is a highly advanced graphic design tool available within the Microsoft 365 suite. This versatile platform allows users to create customized invitations, digital postcards, and other visually appealing materials, leveraging the power of artificial intelligence technology similar to DALL-E 2. According to a recent Microsoft release, Designer enables users to generate unique visual content by simply describing the image they wish to create, empowering even novice users to produce professional-grade designs with minimal effort. If you are already a member then you can sign in and if you are not a member then you can enter your email and wait for the invitation. When we logged in to Microsoft design we will see that screen on the left side we can enter the text that we want to generate.

Hands on with Microsoft Designer, an AI art masterpiece

#artificialintelligence

The upcoming Microsoft Designer is a visual art design tool that you simply must try for yourself. It's simply one of the best consumer apps Microsoft has ever made, following in the footsteps of Clipchamp. In Designer, you can combine apparently unlimited amounts of AI art with intelligently suggested templates that can generate finished projects in just seconds. Microsoft announced Microsoft Designer in October, and it's currently locked to a small group of testers in preview mode. PCWorld obtained access via preview codes shared on Twitter, and that's the way Microsoft is slowly adding users--after you download your first creation, you'll be given a code for three additional Designer licenses that you can share with whomever you'd like.

This Is What Microsoft Is Doing To Protect Its Bundle (NASDAQ:MSFT)

#artificialintelligence

In this article, I would like to start with a recent announcement that Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) made and then show how, even though it may be of little relevance, it offers once again the opportunity to understand how Microsoft runs its business and, most important, defends its wide moat. I really enjoy carrying out this kind of research, especially when I have to deal with a very large company such as Microsoft. In fact, I think that very often, understanding well how one particular choice works, enables me to get a grasp of the whole company better than if I were to analyze only its financials without diving into some of its operations. Let's get to the announcement: Microsoft is launching Microsoft Designer, a graphic design app in Microsoft 365 that helps users create social media posts, invitations, digital postcards, graphics, and more, all in a flash. The most important feature is that Microsoft Designer is powered by AI technology, including DALL E 2 by OpenAI, which enables to instantly generate a variety of designs with minimal effort.

Dall·E Mini And The Future Of Artificial Intelligence Art

#artificialintelligence

You likely see the power of artificial intelligence (AI) daily when you log in to social media or order something online. Many companies use AI to improve business operations and automate more stages of the customer experience. The goal is for AI to allow machines to replace people so that you don't need a human touch for basic and even some complex tasks. With many companies investing in artificial intelligence, it's no surprise that there are AI-powered graphic generators that can create original works of art. We're going to look at the DALL·E 2, DALL·E Mini, and what the future of AI painting looks like. Before we analyze the world of AI-generated artwork, we're going to look at the two most popular tools you may have heard of, including DALL·E 2 and DALL·E Mini.
