How Machine Learning Drives the Deceptive World of Deepfakes
Deepfakes are spreading fast, and while some have playful intentions, others can cause serious harm. We stepped inside this deceptive new world to see what experts are doing to catch this altered content. Chances are you've seen a deepfake; Donald Trump, Barack Obama, and Mark Zuckerberg have all been targets of the computer-generated replications. A deepfake is a video or an audio clip where deep learning models create versions of people saying and doing things that have never actually happened. A good deepfake can chip away at our ability to discern fact from fiction, testing whether seeing is really believing.
Machine Learning Drives Changing Disaster Recovery At Facebook
Hyperscalers have billions of users who get access to their services for free, but the funny thing is that these users act like they are paying for it and expect for these services to be always available, no excuses. Organizations and consumers also rely on Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Alibaba, Baidu, and Tencent for services that they pay for, too, and they reasonably expect that their data will always be immediately accessible and secure, the services always available, their search returns always popping up milliseconds after their queries are entered, and the recommendations that come to them personalized for them. These hyperscalers have built networks of massive datacenters, spanning the globe, to ensure the data and services are close to their customers and that latency doesn't become a problem. Given all this, disaster recovery becomes a critical part of the business. Hyperscale companies need to make sure business can continue as usual even if a datacenter goes down.
Machine Learning Drives the Future of Manufacturing: Notes from Hannover Messe
Overall it was an inspiring week with many deep engaging conversations. Visitors to the Microsoft area were excited to see customer success stories from us and our partners and learned about the details of the Azure services that were used to build them. Hannover Messe this year featured many smart technologies and digital transformation breakthroughs tailored to the world of manufacturing and we look forward to being back next year with even more exciting updates to share.
