3 Best Floodlight Security Cameras (2026), Tested and Reviewed

WIRED

Light up and secure your driveway, backyard, or porch with a floodlight security camera. Floodlight security cameras are a great way to light up your property. Shady areas around your home can make life easier for would-be burglars, and make it harder for you to plug in the car or take out the trash. Motion-triggered lighting is an essential minimum, but with a floodlight security camera, you get that a videofeed. Floodlight cameras are also far more configurable and reliable than lights; they let you check in on your property from the office or bed, and they can alert you to intruders. While this guide covers floodlight security cameras, we also have guides to the Best Outdoor Security Cameras, Best Indoor Security Cameras, and Best Video Doorbells .

Imilab C30 Dual review: 2 lenses, 1 smart monitoring solution

PCWorld

The Imilab C30 Dual is feature-rich indoor camera that delivers wide coverage, sharp video, and smart alerts--without charging extra for the essentials. We've reached a point where most indoor security cameras offer the same basic mix of features--HD video, motion alerts, and cloud storage--wrapped in a similar-looking plastic shell. It's an indoor camera with a (literal) twist: two separate 3K (3072 1728 pixels) lenses that let you monitor two areas at once, in high detail, from a single device. One lens is fixed for wide-angle coverage, while the other pans and tilts to cover the entire room. The C30 Dual adds a layer of on-device artificial intelligence that can detect people, pets, loud noises, and even a crying baby--all without any requirement to pay for a cloud subscription.

My Favorite Things an Amazon Echo Show Can Do (2024)

WIRED

There are a ton of tricks that smart displays can do. But not all of them are created equal or are worth doing on this style of advice. The basics are easy--just about anyone knows how handy it is to ask any smart speaker or smart display to tell you the weather or play music. It's their best use case, especially since smart displays like the Echo Show can give you more weather details onscreen. But that's not all these handy devices do, and for the price you should get the most out of any smart display you buy.

SpotCam Eva 2 review: a much-improved security camera

PCWorld

The original SpotCam Eva, which we reviewed in 2016, was a pretty clunky camera, both in terms of its bulky design and its unpolished performance. It was apparent, however, that it contained the seeds of something better, and those have come to fruition in the SpotCam Eva 2. The rebooted camera has a "snowman" shape that's neither particularly attractive nor an eyesore, but it's smaller and easier to hide in plain sight than the original. It also has a wider field of view (130 degrees) and adds a built-in siren and two-way talk capabilities, Amazon Alexa and Google Home integration, and it supports automatic person tracking. Pan-and-tilt is still its core feature, but this feature works much better than it did in the previous iteration. The first evidence that the Eva 2 had improved on its predecessor surfaced during the setup process.

Artificial Intelligence Can Help Enterprises Achieve Zero Accidents

Einstein said, "Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid." That's what we are doing with AI. Focussing more on what it cannot do as opposed to what it can achieve better than humans. Playing a game of Jeopardy forever, or getting it to pass the Turing test.

Incredible footage from augmented reality glasses shows how they are helping engineers work

Daily Mail - Science & tech

Augmented reality glasses could soon replace repair manuals. Fieldbit, a technology company based in Mountain View, has developed an AR application targeted at engineers and field repair specialists that will place instructions for how to operate machinery and repair malfunctioning industrial equipment directly into one's field of view. The technology allows an engineer to see a live feed from the glasses of a worker on the ground and place specific instructions into the environment to guide them through a maintenance or repair procedure. Fieldbit's AR software will give detailed instructions to field workers on site. For routine procedures, companies can record the instructions and spatial information into a database so future employees can access the information at any time.

Where might facial recognition be able to reduce wait times?

You can now remove your local bar from the list of places where you wouldn't expect to see facial recognition tech. DataSparQ, a data science company based in Britain, has developed a system that keeps track of people's places in line at the bar. AI bar uses cameras and artificial intelligence to recognize when a customer approaches the bar to order, capturing their face and logging it into a running queue. This queue is displayed on a screen mounted at the bar, along with a live feed that circles each person's face. The system can also flag faces that it thinks might be under 25, prompting the bartender to check their ID.
