Amazon's Echo speakers drop back to all-time-low prices in early Black Friday sale

Engadget

There's another opportunity to pick up Amazon's Echo speakers at their lowest prices to date as part of the company's early Black Friday sales. In many cases, they've dropped back down to the prices we saw during the fall edition of Prime Day. For one thing, the regular Echo is $50, which is half off the usual price. The latest Echo Dot is down from $50 to $25, and the fifth-gen Echo Dot with clock is a third off at $40. The Echo Dot kids' version is down 50 percent to $30 as well.

This week's best deals: 40 percent off Amazon's Echo Dot and more

As the month comes to a close, we saw a bunch of solid tech deals across the web. Amazon's latest Echo Dot is down to just $30 and you can still save up to $200 on Samsung's Galaxy S21 smartphones. Fitbit's Mother's Day sale is in full swing, bringing record-low prices to many of its wearables, and May the 4th sales began early this year with discounted Star Wars Instant Pots. Here are the best tech deals we found this week that you can still get today. The latest Echo Dot and Echo Dot with Clock remain on sale for $30 and $40, respectively, which is very close to their all-time lows.

Amazon drops the price of its latest Echo Dot to $30

Engadget

It's a good time to buy a no-frills smart speaker. Amazon is running a sale that drops the price of the fourth-generation Echo Dot smart speaker to $30 (down from $50) for the basic model and $40 (down from $60) for its clock-equipped upgrade. This is very nearly a record low price for both, and makes them easy picks if you're looking for an entry-level device. Be sure to act quickly if you're interested, though -- this is a limited-time deal. The Echo Dot doesn't do a lot, but it does its job well.

Amazon Echo Dot (4th gen) with Clock review: The clock-equipped Echo Dot gets a spherical makeover

PCWorld

Like chocolate-covered peanut butter or eggs served with bacon, an Amazon Echo Dot with a built-in clock turns out to be a splendid combination. The latest Echo Dot with Clock doesn't veer far from the original's winning formula, serving up the same basic LED display baked into an Alexa-powered smart speaker. The only real difference this time around, aside from slightly improved audio, is a revamped spherical design that's now shared by the standard Echo Dot and the flagship Echo model. While the new Echo Dot with Clock does represent a clear stylistic departure from the original, there's no real reason to rush out and replace an existing one. Available in "glacier white" and "twilight blue" flavors, the new Echo Dot with Clock got the same spherical makeover that the standard 4th-gen Echo Dot did. Measuring 3.5 inches tall and 3.9 inches wide, the Echo Dot with Clock is nearly two inches taller than its predecessor, although it's roughly the same width.
