R1-Zero's "Aha Moment" in Visual Reasoning on a 2B Non-SFT Model
Zhou, Hengguang, Li, Xirui, Wang, Ruochen, Cheng, Minhao, Zhou, Tianyi, Hsieh, Cho-Jui
The recent DeepSeek-R1 demonstrated how reinforcement learning with simple rule-based reward can enable autonomous development of complex reasoning in large language models, characterized by the "aha moment", in which the model manifest self-reflection and increased response length during training. However, attempts to extend this success to multimodal reasoning often failed to reproduce these key characteristics. In this report, we present the first successful replication of these emergent characteristics for multimodal reasoning on only a non-SFT 2B model. Starting with Qwen2-VL-2B and applying reinforcement learning directly on the SAT dataset, our model achieves 59.47% accuracy on CVBench, outperforming the base model by approximately ~30% and exceeding both SFT setting by ~2%. In addition, we share our failed attempts and insights in attempting to achieve R1-like reasoning using RL with instruct models, aiming to shed light on the challenges involved. Our key observations include: (1) applying RL on instruct model often results in trivial reasoning trajectories, and (2) naive length reward are ineffective in eliciting reasoning capabilities.

WISDOM ,PERCEPTION AND QUEST FOR INTELLIGENT MACHINE.
"Perception of eyes is not real observation because the eyes sometimes decieve people; but wisdom does not decieve whomever it councels" " WE DON'T SEE THINGS AS THEY ARE, WE SEE THINGS AS WE ARE." Perception is very relevant but wisdom is a topic for scientific inquiry. Scientifically wisdom is quality of good judgment that is confined to questions dealing with the uncertainty of life. Understandings of wisdom can be traced back to ancient times(Islamic, Biblical or other religion). Wisdom has a soul value connected to it. Some adopt the perspective that personal wisdom is deep insight into the reality of life.
Scientists identify key traits of A**HOLES including manipulation, aggression, and entitlement
Whether it's a horrible manager at work or a particularly unlikeable ex-partner, everyone knows at least one person they'd describe as an a**hole. Now, scientists from the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences have revealed the key characteristics of a**holes – and say middle-aged men are most likely to have them. The core traits include manipulation, aggression, and entitlement, as well as irresponsibility and anger. The'Big Five' personality traits are: Openness - People who are generally open have a higher degree of intellectual curiosity and creativity. They are also more unpredictable and likely to be involved in risky behaviour such as drug taking.

Scientists identify five key characteristics in famous PSYCHOPATHS
Scientists have identified the five key personality traits that are common among famous psychopaths, including serial killer Ted Bundy, disgraced fraudster Bernie Madoff and robber Clyde Barrow. The US academics looked for shared traits in six men - Ted Bundy, Bernie Madoff, Clyde Barrow, James Bond, Sherlock Holmes and Chuck Yeager - who have previously been identified as psychopathic. They found that Bundy, Madoff and Barrow are all psychopaths guilty of callousness, manipulativeness, dishonesty, arrogance and cruelty. However, Bond, Holmes and Yeager likely are not psychopaths, and may have been misidentifed in the past due to their fearlessness and boldness, the experts say. Clyde Barrow (1910-1934): Along with Bonnie Parker, Clyde Barrow went on almost two-year crime spree that spanned several US states.

Top UI Testing Tools
Automated web UI testing is another way to shift left quality validation within a development team's workflow. As with any automated process, it should be run without human intervention. Various test scripts run various tests, which result in a pass or fail result. From there, development teams can tackle bug fixes and other software changes. Any development team interested in improving workflow and shortening release cycles should consider automated UI tests.
Use of blockchain technology could increase human trust in AI
This article was contributed by Deepak Gupta, cofounder of LoginRadius, tech strategist, cybersecurity innovator, and author. While Artificial Intelligence (AI) contributes enormously to making human life better, it also raises questions of trustworthiness and reliability. However, blockchain technology can go a long way in increasing human trust in AI-based systems. AI is a new generation technology where machines and information systems demonstrate a form of intelligence that simulates the natural intelligence of human beings in interacting with the environment. However, the success of any AI-based system also depends on the trust displayed by the beneficiaries on AI technology, besides other factors.
Generating Training Datasets Using Energy Based Models that Actually Scale
Energy-Based Models(EBM) is one of the most promising areas of deep learning that hasn't seen a tremendous level of adoption yet. Conceptually, EBMs are a form of generative modeling that learns the key characteristics of a target dataset and tries to generate similar datasets. While EBMs results appealing because of its simplicity they have experienced many challenges when applied in real world applications. Recently, AI-powerhouse OpenAI published a new research paper that explores a new technique to create EBM model that can scale across complex deep learning topologies. EBMs are typically used in one of the most complex problems of real world deep learning solutions: generating quality training datasets.
AI and Best Execution: the Investment Bankers' Dream Team - Chris Skinner's blog
I don't often blog about investment banking as it bores my readers who are cool and trendy retail bankers and geeks, mainly, but keep coming back to this article about JPMorgan's Best Execution AI engine, LOXM. LOXM's job is to execute client orders with maximum speed at the best price, by using lessons it has learnt from billions of past trades -- both real and simulated -- to tackle problems such as how best to offload big equity stakes without moving market prices … JPMorgan believes it is the first on Wall Street to use AI with trade execution and said it would take rivals 18 to 24 months and an investment of "multiple millions" to come up with similar technology. The reason I keep coming back to it is that best execution is a critical regulatory requirement, argued over extensively by the big bods of the European Union a decade ago when they were introducing the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive, MiFID. What the regulator wanted was a method to ensure that investment banks gave customers the best deal, but how to define what the best deal was became a big issue. Is the best deal the best price?
How Adobe uses machine learning to drive marketing success
Earlier this year, Adobe took the wraps off its new Adobe Marketing Cloud, touting new data science capabilities like Adobe Analytics' Segment IQ, which uses machine learning to help marketers gain deep insight into audience segments. On Wednesday, Adobe advanced Segment IQ another step with the release of Segment Comparison for Analysis Workspace. Segment Comparison for Analysis Workspace is the first in what Adobe promises will be a series of audience analysis and discovery tools within Segment IQ. It uses machine learning techniques to perform automated analysis on every metric and dimension to which you have access. Nate Smith, senior product marketing manager, Adobe Analytics, says this allows Segment Comparison to uncover the key characteristics of the audience segments that are driving your company's KPIs.
