Thoughts about Some Surprising AI-Era Technology Readiness Findings
With the assistance of Arthur D. Little and the Cutter Consortium, we surveyed business executives about their business-technology plans, readiness and priorities.a The results surprised us--a lot. We learned that nearly 80% of the companies still believe in some form of the central control of technology, and that only 5% of the companies are decentralized, where the lines of business are free to pursue technology initiatives on their own. Just over half of companies do not track emerging technologies or maintain technology watch lists. Only 17% of companies have a well-funded, well-defined innovation strategy, and 34% have no innovation strategy at all.
Crafting IT innovation strategies for real-world value
Jeff Dirks is fascinated by new technologies like generative AI. But when it comes to implementation, the chief information and technology officer of workforce augmentation firm TrueBlue chooses a path that trails early adopters. "We're in the early majority," is the CIO/CTO's blunt self-assessment. Although many IT leaders would like to think of themselves -- and have others think of them -- as in the vanguard of new technology adoption, the vast majority find themselves in the middle of a bell curve, with innovators leading the way and laggards trailing behind, according to Everett Rogers' diffusion of innovations theory [see chart]. But there is no one "right" place to be along the curve.

The board dinner event, "The Board's role in strategy, governing ecosystems and artificial intelligence", held in Stockholm, Sweden in mid November 2019, was co-organized by two board research projects: SISU Boards led by Professor Mats Magnusson of the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) and 4Boards.ai The event, as well as both research projects, are co-sponsored by Vinnova – the Swedish Innovation Agency. The event was divided into two sets of activities: 1) speaker presentations and 2) roundtable discussions. Speakers included two globally leading experts, Anastassia Lauterbach and Sebastian Herzog, as well as Researchers Chairman Liselotte Engstam and Professor Mats Magnusson. The new EU AI Act
April was a watershed moment for AI regulation. The European Union (EU) Commission published its AI Act, an ambitious proposal for a comprehensive legislative framework for AI - the first from a major global economy. In the words of Margrethe Vestager, EU Commission Executive Vice President and Technology Commissioner, the aim is'for Europe to become a global leader in trustworthy AI'. The Act will apply to organisations providing or using AI systems in the EU. But it will also apply to providers and users located in other countries, including the UK, if their AI systems affect individuals in the EU.

4 Business Strategies for Implementing Artificial Intelligence
Artificial intelligence (AI) is reinventing industry after industry. In China, AI is tutoring children in more than 1700 schools across 200 cities. In Australia, an AI created a flu vaccine that far outperformed all other existing flu vaccines. In the US, a machine-learning robot is autonomously cooking burgers. There are many incredible real world-implementations of AI.

Three challenges you need to overcome to thrive in the AI age
Read almost anything in the tech press today and you're likely to be told that AI is the answer. The trouble is, I'm not always sure we're asking the right question. To demonstrate this point, nine out of ten senior executives believe AI will have a profound impact on their business and wider society. Yet half of them are struggling to apply it. So, there's still plenty of confusion around what AI is, and what it can (and can't) do.
AI Deployment Challenges: 5 Tips to Help Overcome the Hurdles
Everyone is talking about the power of AI and it's slowly invading our lives--emphasis on slowly. While you might have a few AI assistants and connected devices in your house, the business world hasn't fully jumped on board yet with AI. Sure, the forward-thinking companies have and those are the headline we are seeing, but I'm talking about full adoption from the mom and pop shops all the way up to the enterprise level, spanning across all industries. We all understand the power and the potential of AI, but we don't seem to discuss the AI deployment challenges that many businesses are likely facing. We see statistics like 61 percent of companies with an innovation strategy are using AI to identify opportunities in data and think that a majority of companies must be adopting AI.
