Knowing the state of the job market is critical to finding your next position - a new report aims to take out the guesswork by revealing the most in-demand worldwide. Experts compiled internet data and Google job searches to create a list of the top 10 most sought-after positions, ranking software quality assurance analyst at the top. A software quality assurance analyst, someone that tests software to ensure it is free of bugs, saw a 155 percent increase in searchers from 2021 to 2022. The second most searched was solar consultant, who provided customers with information about solar-powered equipment, and customer service associate. However, the report was conducted before AI's success, which is set to take over many positions, and the recent tech layoffs that saw thousands of people lose their jobs.

We thought it would be interesting to go deeper into the analytics part of running our AI/ML/DS job board – in the most privacy focused way for our users, of course. So here we are now starting to expose some of our aggregated internal job data in a systematic fashion through a simple REST API with a list of generalized job titles that are posted on ai-jobs.net. The cool thing with this is that we are able to see what's popular in terms of the roles employers are hiring for most often in the AI/ML and Big Data space. Our "methodology" here is quite simple: we're primarily counting the occurence of job titles over the last 12 months, cleaned and adjusted for certain specialties that some companies like to do, e.g. We also left out many titles with indicators regarding seniority or other requirements as we already have dedicated attributes for these.

However, job seeker interest in these roles has leveled off, suggesting that competition for tech talent in this area is going to heat up quickly. While many fear that AI will soon replace jobs, at this phase in the technology's development, it is still creating positions, as companies need highly-skilled workers to develop and maintain a wide range of applications. Employer demand for AI-related roles has more than doubled over the past three years, the report found, and the number of AI- related job postings as a share of all job postings is up 119%. Meanwhile, job seeker interest is much higher than it was three years ago, but hit a plateau in 2017, Indeed found.
