Important Technologies to Grow and Scale Your Tech Startup

#artificialintelligence

There is no way around it – tech startups need to make several crucial investments early on in order to secure financial stability, ensure scalability and pave the road to long-term success. Regardless of the niche your startup occupies, you as a business leader need to consider the various tech solutions out there for each of your departments, and start implementing the right tech to support your company from inception to the moment it reaches its break-even point. This will be a long and winding road regardless of the technologies you choose to invest in, but choosing the right tech will help you along the way. In fact, if you want to be among the 40% of startups that actually make a profit, you need the right technologies at your side. With that in mind, here are some important technologies you should invest in early to grow and scale your tech startup.

The Impact of Tech in 2022

#artificialintelligence

Now is the time to upgrade our technologies, and in the year 2022, AI, ML, 5G, and Cloud Computing will be the most important technologies to emerge. The covid-19 pandemic will continue to have a wide-ranging influence on our life in 2022. As a result, the digitalization and virtualization of business and society will continue to increase. As we enter the new year, however, the demand for sustainability, ever-increasing data volumes, and faster computation and network speeds will reclaim their positions as the most essential drivers of digital transformation. IEEE has announced the conclusions of a new study of global technology executives from the United States, the United Kingdom, China, India, and Brazil titled "The Impact of Technology in 2022 and Beyond: an IEEE Global Study."

AI, Cloud, 5G to be the Most Important Technologies in 2022, Says Study

#artificialintelligence

Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Cloud Computing and 5G will be the most important technologies in 2022, according to IEEE's recent Global Study. The new survey of global technology leaders from the U.S., U.K., China, India and Brazil, which included 350 CIOs, CTOs and IT directors, covers the most important technologies in 2022, industries most impacted by technology in the year ahead, and technology trends through the next decade. Which technologies will be the most important in 2022? Among total respondents, more than one in five (21%) say AI and ML, cloud computing (20%) and 5G (17%) will be the most important technologies next year. Because of the global pandemic, technology leaders surveyed said in 2021 they accelerated adoption of cloud computing (60%), AI and ML (51%), and 5G (46%), among others.

The study revealed the findings of a global survey technology leaders from the US, UK, China, India, and Brazil, including 350 chief technology officers, chief information officers and IT directors. Because of the global pandemic, technology leaders surveyed said in 2021 they accelerated adoption of cloud computing (60%), AI and ML (51%), and 5G (46%), among others. Not surprisingly, 95% agreed, including 66% who strongly agreed, that AI will drive the majority of innovation across nearly every industry sector in the next one-five years. The technology leaders surveyed said 5G will benefit areas like telemedicine, including remote surgery and health record transmissions (24%), remote learning and education (20%), personal and professional day-to-day communications (15%), entertainment, sports and live events streaming (14%), manufacturing and assembly (13%), transportation and traffic control (7%), carbon footprint reduction and energy efficiency (5%), and farming and agriculture (2%). As for industry sectors most impacted by technology in 2022, technology leaders surveyed cited manufacturing (25%), financial services (19%), healthcare (16%) and energy (13%).

IEEE: Most Important 2022 Tech Is AI/Machine Learning, Cloud and 5G -- Virtualization Review

#artificialintelligence

IEEE says the most important technologies in 2022 will be AI/machine learning, cloud computing and 5G wireless. That comes in a new report published by the large technical professional organization titled "The Impact of Technology in 2022 and Beyond: an IEEE Global Study," based on an October survey of 350 chief information officers, chief technology officers and technology leaders from the U.S., U.K., China, India and Brazil who were asked about key technology trends, priorities and predictions for 2022 and beyond. "Among total respondents, more than one in five (21 percent) say AI and machine learning, cloud computing (20 percent), and 5G (17 percent) will be the most important technologies next year," IEEE said in a Nov. 18 announcement. "Because of the global pandemic, technology leaders surveyed said in 2021 they accelerated adoption of cloud computing (60 percent), AI and machine learning (51 percent), and 5G (46 percent), among others." The report includes respondent data for 12 questions, starting off with: "Which will be the most important technology in 2022?"

The cybersecurity concerns most likely to be in technology leaders' top two are issues related to the mobile and hybrid workforce including employees using their own devices (39%) and cloud vulnerability (35%). Additional concerns include data center vulnerability (27%), a coordinated attack on their network (26%), and a ransomware attack (25%). Notably, 59% of all technology leaders surveyed currently use or in the next five years plan to use drones for security, surveillance, or threat prevention as part of their business model. There are regional disparities though. Current drone use for security or plans to do so in the next five years are strongest in Brazil (78%), China (71%), India (60%), and the U.S. (52%) compared to only (32%) in the U.K., where 48% of respondents say they have no plans to use drones in their business.

Technology Trends in Healthcare in 2021: The Rise of AI

#artificialintelligence

COVID-19 has become an unprecedented disruption to all facets of the healthcare industry in a very short amount of time. Although the healthcare technology industry has been slow growing in the past, innovation is needed to deal with the pandemic. AI in healthcare, as well as other important technologies, are critical to resolving the crisis and for generating future growth. To better understand where the healthcare technology industry is going, studying key tech trends is paramount. Although proven systems are often preferred for their reliability, businesses are always looking for new ways to improve their performance, productivity, and efficiency. Now, let's talk about healthcare technology trends in 2021. COVID-19 has greatly accelerated the use of telehealth resources.

Big Tech swallows most of the hot AI startups

#artificialintelligence

In 2016, Seattle-based startup Turi was helping almost 100 customers create and manage software that uses machine learning, a powerful type of artificial intelligence. Its technology was so promising that Apple Inc. snapped it up for $200 million. The deal was a triumph for investors and founders, but one backer thought Turi -- and the broader tech industry -- might be better off if the startup had spurned Apple's advances. Matt McIlwain, managing director at Madrona Venture Group, said it's important that at least some emerging tech businesses remain independent, rather than falling into the arms of Apple, Amazon.com "It is economically beneficial to society to have more stand-alone, independent companies. We generally think that's better than just having these companies consolidated into larger ones," McIlwain said.
