AI Is Essential for Solving the Climate Crisis
Advanced analytics and artificial intelligence can be used to help manage challenging issues related to mitigating climate change and improving adaptation and resilience. The changing climate will have a major impact on environmental, social, and economic systems around the globe. We are already experiencing many of its environmental effects, from longer droughts to more destructive storms. Mitigation is therefore critical, including efforts to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. However, minimizing the harm will also require increasing our efforts at adaptation and resilience--from immediate crisis response to long-term planning. Further, these efforts will require support from activities such as research, finance, and education.
Natural Language Processing
"With the emergence of the Internet it has become easy and quick for anyone who creates something to get their work to the target audience. Now it takes only a few minutes for our work to have universal reach. The Internet comes not only accompanied by advantages. As everything in life it has its is advantages and entails of attention. As it provides quick reach, it also allows for copying and misusing the works a creator makes available. In our work we will address Intellectual Property in the national context, of which we will carry out a scientific study, analyzing how its protection is done and whether there is concern from both the competent authorities and our artists and authors.
How AI can help manage the oil and gas talent crisis
There's no getting around the fact that oil and gas plays a critical role in the global energy infrastructure. While renewable technologies have made remarkable progress, we still rely on fuels like oil and gas to power our vehicles, to keep our lights on and to move goods and people around the world. Therefore, problems in the industry -- like a talent crisis -- can have serious global consequences. If global energy infrastructure and efficiency is negatively impacted, so too will be the wider economy that depends on it. The bad news is that the oil and gas industry does have a talent problem right now.
Take your machine learning models to production with new MLOps capabilities
This blog post was authored by Jordan Edwards, Senior Program Manager, Microsoft Azure. At Microsoft Build 2019 we announced MLOps capabilities in Azure Machine Learning service. MLOps, also known as DevOps for machine learning, is the practice of collaboration and communication between data scientists and DevOps professionals to help manage the production of the machine learning (ML) lifecycle. Azure Machine Learning service's MLOps capabilities provide customers with asset management and orchestration services, enabling effective ML lifecycle management. With this announcement, Azure is reaffirming its commitment to help customers safely bring their machine learning models to production and solve their business's key problems faster and more accurately than ever before.
Run Smarter, More Efficient Networks With Analytics, Machine...
Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) will change virtually every industry. Smart tools are penetrating the hardware and software used by organizations around the world, helping them to make better decisions and automate processes. Communications Service Providers (CSPs) are no exception. Automated, data-driven decisions can help manage large estates of network infrastructure and optimize services. And any efficiency gained can have a huge impact on the bottom line.
Stop griping about Siri and get Apple's iPhone assistant to work better
Now available, Apple's smart speaker has integrated Siri support, so wake it up and ask a question or give a command. You probably know about Siri's funny responses to questions like "What's the meaning of life?" or "Are you alive?" And you may have complained when the assistant stumbles or can't follow your question. Spoiler alert: This column won't show you how to make Siri fault-proof. But it will help you get more out of it, particularly when you're in situations where you couldn't or shouldn't be using your hands.
Microsoft acquired Genee, an AI startup that can help manage your life
Microsoft announced on Monday that it has acquired an AI startup called Genee for an undisclosed sum. The startup, founded in 2014, has built a platform that aims to help people manage their busy lives by acting as their virtual assistant and helping them to schedule meetings. It aims to remove the pain of emailing back and forth to find a time and a place that works for everyone. It is particularly well suited to organising large groups, Microsoft claims. Founded by Ben Cheung and Charles Lee, (who will now join Microsoft), Genee uses natural language processing and optimised decision-making algorithms to make the virtual assistant as similar to a human assistant as possible.
