Artificial intelligence could play a much bigger role in boosting Edwards Lifesciences' revenues going forward. During its most recent earnings call, the Irvine, CA-based company's CEO said its software for the HemoSphere should be significant growth driver this year. HemoSphere is a monitor that gives insight on a patient's physiologic status and can analyze trends. Late last year, the company received a nod from FDA for Acumen Hypotension Prediction Index, a software that adds an AI component to the platform. Some Inaccuracies About NVIDIA's Cryptocurrency And Artificial Intelligence Businesses

International Business Times

This article originally appeared in the Motley Fool. NVIDIA (NASDAQ:NVDA) stock has been a huge winner in recent years. Since 2016, shares have returned 640%, versus the S&P 500's nearly 40% return. This exceptional performance has left investors hungry for articles about the fast-growing graphics processing unit (GPU) specialist and artificial intelligence (AI) player, which in turn means that financial writers are coming out of the woodwork to meet this demand. If said woodwork was filled only with folks who were both capable of grasping meaty tech topics and willing to do adequate homework before gracing the digital world with their words and analysis, this en masse emergence wouldn't be an issue.

The accurate information: AI is a huge growth driver for NVIDIA's fast-growing data-center platform, which is the company's largest platform by revenue behind gaming. However, AI is not the only growth driver for this platform. Accurate information is easily obtained: At the beginning of every quarterly earnings call, Kress outlines the growth drivers for each of the company's four target market platforms, and oftentimes Huang expounds on this information in the question-and-answer session that follows management's opening remarks. Along with AI, the data-center growth drivers have typically been high-performance computing (HPC) and virtualized computing. Kress did say on the Q4 earnings call that NVIDIA is "starting to see the convergence of HPC and AI," but these are still largely two different things.

Here's How Amazon Go Can Be The Next Growth Driver For Amazon

Forbes - Tech

Taking the offline grocery shopping experience to the next level, Amazon recently introduced "Amazon Go," a retail store format which allows shoppers to pick the items they want and leave without any checkout procedure. The "just walk out" technology being used for these stores is based on the same technology used in self-driving cars. This format will provide some of the convenience of e-commerce to consumers who prefer to pick out grocery items personally, which would give Amazon a substantial competitive edge over other players such as Wal-Mart and Target. Amazon's market share in the grocery segment is only around 1% currently, while groceries account for nearly 20% of consumer spending in the U.S. According to the Food Marketing Institute, the average U.S. consumer spends nearly $107 per week on grocery shopping, or around $5,500 per year, higher than the annual spend of an average Amazon Prime customer. The company has opened the first Amazon Go store in beta to employees, and will open it to the public in 2017.
