LG SN8YG review: A feature-packed soundbar that doesn't neglect the basics
LG SN8YG soundbar ticks many of our favorite boxes, including Dolby Atmos and DTS:X object-based sound, eARC support for lossless audio, room calibration, and built-in Chromecast and Google Assistant. More importantly, the $800 SN8YG doesn't skimp on sonic fundamentals, paying special attention to the mid-range audio that too many of its competitors tend to gloss over. While its flat sound signature won't appeal to all tastes and it lacks soundstage-boosting side-firing drives, the LG SN8YG's full, rich audio quality nails the basics. This review is part of TechHive's coverage of the best soundbars, where you'll find reviews of competing products, plus a buyer's guide to the features you should consider when shopping. If you wish, you can turn the 440-watt SN8YG into a full-on 5.1.2

LG G7 ThinQ review: A worthy S9 rival with a notch
When it comes to Android flagships, Samsung is king of the hill. According to a recent IDC report, Samsung is the No. 1 Android brand in the world, with Huawei and Xiaomi close behind. Nowhere on that top-five list is LG, which might seem surprising. LG even had a little bit of help from Google along the way; the G6 was the first non-Pixel phone with Google Assistant, the V20 was the first new phone to ship with Nougat, and the V30S ThinQ was the first with device-specific Google Assistant commands. The G7, then, is a sign that LG isn't giving up.

LG's G7 packs a dedicated Google Assistant button
LG is expected to unveil its next flagship smartphone, the G7 ThinQ, at a New York event on May 2nd. Aside from the ThinQ artificial intelligence, the phone will get another new feature: A dedicated button for Google Assistant. According to a CNET report, it's located on the left side of the phone opposite a power button on the right, with the fingerprint reader staying on the back. Like the recent AI-equipped V30S, the G7 ThinQ will supposedly get custom LG commands to ask Google Assistant. It's not the first Android to get a button devoted to a voice assistant.
