The Present and Future of Bots in Software Engineering

Shihab, Emad, Wagner, Stefan, Gerosa, Marco A., Wessel, Mairieli, Cabot, Jordi

arXiv.org Artificial Intelligence

We often see users and run automated tasks in response, working bots working on software repositories, e.g., to as an interface between users and services. Bots can support technical and social projects, which typically face sustainability activities in software engineering, including issues. The adoption of bots may help free communication and decision-making. In open-source (or inner-source) is no exception [1], [2]. Given the essential projects, bots can leverage the public availability complexity of software projects and the large of software assets, including source code, discussions, community of people around them (stakeholders, issues and comments, to target more designers, developers and, let's not forget, significant contributions.

Full Professor in Artificial Intelligence, Auditing - University of Amsterdam, Netherlands, 2022

#artificialintelligence

You are an internationally recognized researcher in AI / Data Science who has solid knowledge in at least one of the fields of AI, is keen to develop new techniques for the specific domain of auditing and who can build a team bridging the gap between the technical and business disciplines. You will establish a research line in the new and challenging topic of AI and Auditing. This could either lead to automating the auditing process (e.g., through combinations of multiple data sources) or methods for auditing AI algorithms (fairness, accountability, responsibility, ethics). It will connect existing research within the UvA and complement it with new topics at the crossroads of AI and auditing. In addition to a solid funding you will seek extension in its funding to enhance the research line, where given the topic of the position we particularly expect funding from public-private partnerships for example in the form of an Innovation Center for Artificial Intelligence (ICAI) lab.

Expert in Ethics and AI Joins CMU Faculty This Fall

CMU School of Computer Science

Vincent Conitzer expects much to be the same when he returns to Carnegie Mellon University this coming fall. It will still be the best place in the world for computer science and the technical expertise will still be unmatched. Many of the colleagues, professors and even his Ph.D. advisor will also still be around. But don't be surprised if the renowned artificial intelligence researcher and ethicist appears lost in the corridors and hallways of the Gates and Hillman Centers. When Conitzer was finishing his graduate work in computer science in 2006, he spent his time in Wean Hall.

Assistant, Associate or Full Professor

#artificialintelligence

The University of Florida, College of Dentistry (UFCD) is recruiting qualified applicants for an Assistant, Associate or Full Professor to be a part of the University of Florida's (UF) Artificial Intelligence (AI) Initiative. The UF AI initiative is supported by a $70 million investment and implementation of the most powerful AI supercomputer in higher education in the world. UF is hiring 100 new faculty members, including one dedicated to applying AI power to help solve oral health challenges in the College of Dentistry. Applicants should specialize in predictive analytics, risk stratification or causal inference methods to develop evidence and tools for decision support in clinical and other public health settings. Applicants will have expertise in the use of large healthcare data and a doctoral degree in the health sciences, computer science, engineering, or related disciplines.

Full Professor in Public Law and Governance of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and related technologies are playing an increasingly important role in our society. To this end Leiden University has started a new, university wide initiative to enable collaboration on the use of AI. By building on and expanding the already existing expertise of AI the project intends to advance science and improve the quality of our life. All the disciplines of the University of Leiden are involved: Archeology, Humanities, Social Sciences, Law, Public Administration, Sciences, and also the Leiden University Medical Centre (LUMC), to collaborate and appoint new staff with joint interests. Leiden University has earmarked dedicated funding for the appointment of full professors, assistant professors, a post-doc and support staff to facilitate the expansion of AI related research at all its departments.

Full Professor in Intelligent Interaction
