AI and Machine Learning are Making an Impant on Cloud-Managed Networking in Education - Extreme Networks

#artificialintelligence

Over the past decade, a lot has changed in the lives of students and teachers. Mobility is everywhere, and it's long been understood that 1:1 programs are the norm for school districts who are wanting to prepare their students for jobs that haven't even been dreamed of yet. As schools add new opportunities for teachers and students to gain additional knowledge, we need to create more time in the day. This concept is not something you hear about a lot, but any teacher reading this article will understand what we're talking about. As teachers have been expected to integrate technology into their lessons, they have to spend additional time lesson planning.

READING, England and SHANNON, Ireland, September 16, 2019 โ€• Extreme Networks, a software-driven networking company, announced today that it will invest 3 million Euro to expand its R&D program in Shannon, Ireland. The investment will create 20 new jobs in engineering, data science, and software engineering over the next two years, with the Irish government providing additional funding in the form of research, development, and innovation grant worth over 500,000 Euro. The newly established R&D team will focus on developing a next-generation cloud portal for network applications and services, as well as a state-of-the-art AI-based security system for the Internet of Things (IoT). The Shannon R&D base is part of a long-term strategy by Extreme Networks that will result in the creation of a substantial number of highly specialized engineering jobs in the region over the next five years. With the network industry currently experiencing clear shifts in spending patterns as enterprises focus more on applications and security over physical hardware, this support for the program in Shannon is the next step in building a new'Cloud and AI Centre of Excellence' for Extreme Networks.

The Autonomous Enterprise: Machine-Assisted; People Driven - Extreme Networks

If the Consumer Electronic Show (CES), that took place in Las Vegas earlier this month, is anything to judge by, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) will be the buzz words for 2019. Reports of "Jaw-dropping' AI technology abound, including: AI enhanced products are coming into our consumer lives at a dizzying pace. Can we expect to see the same flurry of AI and ML solutions coming into hospitals, schools, retail stores, and hotels in 2019? The short answer is yes. While adoption is slow, and we are unlikely to see the sheer number or diversity of AI and ML solutions increase, AI and ML technology is permeating into enterprise environments.

Google Explains Machine Learning And Deep Learning; Plus: Short Takes From Educause 2016 - Extreme Networks

#artificialintelligence

Machine Learning is an important concept in computer science and for higher education in general that is developing rapidly. Greg Corrado, a senior research scientist at Google, described the ML basics that educators and IT managers in higher education all need to be aware of. Although machine learning is not entirely new, it has gotten much more attention since last March, when it was used to defeat Lee Sedol, the Go world champion. But even before that, ML has been powering apps like Google photos, speech recognition, text-to-speech converters, and face recognition. The reason it is coming to the forefront now is that the computational resources that it requires have become readily available.
