Darktrace adds 70 ML models to its AI cybersecurity platform

#artificialintelligence

Darktrace has enhanced its flagship AI cybersecurity platform with 70 additional machine learning models and over 80 new features. The Cambridge-based firm was founded by mathematicians and cyber defense experts in 2013 and uses self-learning AI to protect enterprises across all industry sectors. Machine learning is used to make thousands of "micro-level" decisions in the background as part of Darktrace's autonomous response technology called Antigena. Antigena has been improved with 70 new machine learning models to bolster its ability to autonomously neutralise attacks in real-time. "The hallmark of a great AI solution is the ability to surpass automation to seamlessly blend into users' everyday work rhythm," said Jack Stockdale OBE, CTO of Darktrace.

Enterprise Immune System

#artificialintelligence

The Enterprise Immune System uses unsupervised machine learning and AI to understand all about your organization. Observing your users and devices, cloud containers and workflows, it learns'on the job' what is normal for your organization. Unlike traditional approaches that rely on blacklists, rules and signatures, the immune system approach learns from your data – forming a bespoke and evolving understanding of your digital environments. This unique approach enables Darktrace to detect the most sophisticated and stealthy cyber-threats that other tools miss.

Hospital takes aim at patient health data security with AI tools

#artificialintelligence

To improve the security of patient health data, it seems only natural that a healthcare organization would choose security software modeled after the human immune system. There's no magic bullet or single software that can fully secure your healthcare organization – but there are strategies that can help. In this e-guide, get free advice from healthcare CIOs and CISOs to help bolster your cybersecurity plan. You forgot to provide an Email Address. This email address doesn't appear to be valid.

Cybersecurity: is the office coffee machine watching you? 4-Traders

#artificialintelligence

Troubled by something deeply unethical going on at work? Or maybe you're plotting to leak sensitive information on the company that just sacked you? Either way, you best think twice before making your next move because an all-seeing artificial intelligence might just be analysing every email you send, every file you upload, every room you scan into – even your coffee routine. The latest wave of cyber-defence technology employs machine learning to monitor use of the ever-expanding number of smart household objects connected to the Internet of Things – shutting down hackers before they've broken into corporate databases or whistleblowers before they've forwarded on information to the media. One of the leading proponents is cyber-defence company Darktrace, founded in 2013 by former British intelligence officers in Cambridge and today featuring 370 employees in 23 offices globally.

6 AI Cybersecurity Startups Keeping You Safe - Nanalyze

The war between machines likely won't be fought across some bomb-blasted hell-scape, with humans scuttling about like roaches trying to avoid being squashed. Rather, machines will fight it out over fiber optic connections, with the battleground being computer servers and laptops containing valuable information. You'll recall that monochromatic pant suits weren't Hilary Clinton's only problem: Russia (or some obese, Big Gulp-slurping teen in his mom's basement) hacked her private emails. Cybersecurity is still the domain of humans, but the job is increasingly being turned over to predictive systems that use various forms of artificial intelligence that do everything from protecting financial information to detecting fraudulent behavior. It's no secret that cybersecurity is big business.

Darktrace Automates Network Security Through Machine Learning

#artificialintelligence

Darktrace co-founder Poppy Gustafsson recently predicted, at TechCrunch Disrupt London, that malicious actors will increasingly use artificial intelligence to create more sophisticated spearphishing attacks. Criminals are just as capable of using artificial intelligence as those trying to thwart them, according to security vendor ESET's 2017 trends report, with "next-gen" security marketers throwing around the buzzwords "machine learning," "behavioral analysis" and more. That's making it more difficult for potential customers to sift through all the hype. It predicts the rise of "jackware" or Internet-of-Things ransomware, such as locking the software in cars until a ransom is paid. UK-based security vendor Darktrace takes the view that determined hackers will get into your network, so a perimeter-based strategy won't work.

Machine learning tool helps county detect cyber risks -- GCN

#artificialintelligence

To modernize cybersecurity for Livingston County, Mich., officials turned to a machine learning tool that can find anomalies in behaviors without previous knowledge of what to look for. Darktrace's Enterprise Immune System is powered by unsupervised machine learning, meaning county officials didn't have to tell it what to watch out for using rules or signatures. Instead, they plugged it in and let it run for three weeks so that it could learn about the network's typical behavior, establishing what's called a "pattern of life." Then when the system detects something out of the ordinary, an alert is issued in real time. "A tool like this works best when it's placed where it can see the traffic we're most interested in," county Deputy Chief Information Security Officer Paul Curylo said. "We placed it such that we can see traffic of interest traversing through our core as well as traffic traversing out to the internet."

Cybersecurity startup Darktrace intercepts 65M in fresh funding at a valuation of over 400M

#artificialintelligence

Darktrace, the U.K. cybersecurity startup whose backers include Autonomy founder Mike Lynch's Invoke Capital, has closed 65 million in fresh funding. The new round was led by global investment firm KKR, with participation from existing investor Summit Partners and new investors TenEleven Ventures and SoftBank. I understand the new investment gives the 2013-founded company a valuation of more than 400 million, while in a call Lynch told me the new backing was a typical growth round and will be used for further international expansion and for R&D. In particular, he said Darktrace is developing technology to help companies respond to not only human-written cyberattacks but also the pending threat of machine-learning-based attacks that, in classic sci-fi-comes-true-fashion, will increasingly see AI battling it out with AI on behalf of the good and bad folks, respectively. But let's step back and take a look at what Darktrace offers today.
