Police in Scarborough, Maine, which is located just south of Portland, confirmed this week that the shark was spotted off the state's coastline. "On Monday, August 11, 2025, Scarborough's Marine Resource Officer received a report of what appeared to be a large shark near Richmond Island and Scarborough Beach," the town wrote on its Facebook page. "Follow-up observations were conducted, and on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, the Marine Resource Officer obtained drone video footage showing a possible great white shark, estimated to be 10–12 feet in length, off the southern end of Richmond Island in the vicinity of Higgins Beach and Scarborough Beach," it added.

A stunning drone video has emerged showing a Ukrainian warship narrowly escaping a massive Russian artillery fire, some of which lands as close as 200 feet. The footage, allegedly captured by a shooting spotter drone, shows the Ukrainian vessel Yuri Olefirenko, a Polnochny-class landing ship, coming under Russian attack as it sails along the Bugsko-Dneprovsko-Limansky Canal near the port of Ochakov in Mykolaiv region. Curtis Williams was flying his drone over Panama City Beach on Saturday when he saw the fisherman attempting to capture the shark. "Vacationing at beach and was going to video a nice pleasant sunset. Yesterday, the Halley VI Research Station was forced to close its Antarctic research base amid rising fears it could fall into a huge ice chasm. Shocking new drone footage has now been released that shows just how massive the growing crack in the ice is. The worrying footage has forced the British research base to relocate 14 miles (22 km) across the Brunt Ice Shelf and close its doors for the winter. The footage shows a 25 mile-long (40km) crack that appears to be a few feet deep. In some areas, the crack has split into two, leaving behind small islands of ice.
