Document Automation with Forms Processing model using AI Builder Connector in Power Automate Flows
In our earlier article, we explored the reference app released by Microsoft for Document Automation using the Form Processing model of AI Builder. The app that is a ready-to-use sample app demonstrates the process of reading the form submitted through email and extracting the data submitted in the form and presenting it to the users in a Power Apps Canvas App for further manual verification and processing by the users. In this part, we will use the flows to not only extract the data submitted using the form but also go ahead and automate the process for verifying the submissions if the confidence score returned is on the higher side. Note: At the time of writing the blog this feature is not available in all regions. We have used an environment in the US region (.crm) for the purpose of this article.
Will Robots Spell the Doom of Junior Associates?
If you just read the sensational headlines (like the clickbait above), you might get the impression that robots and automation will leave junior associates out of work – like work horses put to pasture by the combustion engine and the industrial revolution. Images come to mind of a post-apocalyptic sci-fi world, like Terminator or Blade Runner, where artificial intelligence has its grip on humanity as we struggle to survive. But, after surviving the COVID pandemic, reasonable minds are beginning to question if there's more to the story. No less reputable research firms than Gartner and Delloite predict the demise of low-level legal work. Their research states, 22 percent of a lawyer's job and 35 percent of a law clerk's job can be automated, which means that while humanity won't be completely overtaken, major businesses and career adjustments aren't far off (see "Is Technology About to Decimate White-Collar Work?").
Tech-Enabled A2J: From Text to Machine Learning, How Legal Aid Is Leveraging Technology to Increase Access to Justice Legal Executive Institute
In an new column, "Tech-Enabled A2J", we will take a look at how legal start-ups and legal technology innovations are impacting the push toward better Access to Justice for more citizens. Whereas LSOs have found past success in reaching clients through basic tools like texting, they are now moving to more advanced platforms like document automation to better streamline internal processes. Some are even going one step further by embarking on artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) projects to determine how they can help address the 86% of civil legal problems reported by low-income Americans that aren't fully resolved. Access to justice starts with literal access: figuring out how clients best receive, digest, and act on legal information. On the lower-tech end, text messaging has proven to be a successful tool for reaching those in need.
