LiDAR autonomous driving startup Vueron Technology (Vueron) announced today it will launch an eco-friendly autonomous truck delivery business, exclusively partnering with South Korea's no.1 cold-chain logistics platform. Established in 2019, Vueron Technology specializes in the development of LiDAR solutions and autonomous driving technology. Vueron provides VueOne, automotive LiDAR solution, and VueTwo, smart infrastructure LiDAR solution, based on self-developed perception algorithms. The excellence of its cutting-edge technology was highlighted when the company succeeded this year in obtaining an autonomous vehicle permit in California and Nevada for use of only one LiDAR sensor, a technological accomplishment unmatched to date. Delivery robots move medical supplies to help with COVID-19 response

#artificialintelligence

Nuro, one of the nation's best-funded self-driving vehicle startups, has begun using its robots to ferry food and medical supplies around a California stadium that has been converted into a coronavirus treatment facility, CEO Dave Ferguson announced on Wednesday. "We realized that we could potentially use our R2 unmanned vehicles to provide truly contactless delivery of goods, where we remove any possible interaction between a driver dropping off goods and a person picking them up," Ferguson wrote. Contactless delivery could reduce the spread of COVID-19. In a Tuesday phone interview, Nuro policy chief David Estrada told Ars that the robots are ferrying food, supplies, and medical equipment from the parking lot of Sleep Train Arena, home of the Sacramento Kings, into the stadium itself. Human workers at designated locations load the vehicles at one end of a trip and unload them at the other.

SoftBank mulls major investment in robot pizza startup Zume

The Japan Times

SoftBank Group Corp. is in talks to invest from $500 million to $750 million in Zume Inc., a startup that makes and delivers fresh pizzas with the help of robots, according to people familiar with the conversations. Zume owns a patent for delivery trucks capable of cooking food while en route to customers. The startup's proprietary trucks are loaded in part by robots, and have ovens that fire up on demand via a remote cloud signal. The technology allows Zume to operate legally despite some laws preventing food truck companies from preparing food while a delivery vehicle is in motion. In addition to delivering pizza, Zume creates technology to manage perishable supply chain logistics and sees an opportunity to partner with companies that wish to provide freshly cooked menu items to customers.
