How AI can drive a quantum leap in cybersecurity automation - Intelligent CIO Europe

#artificialintelligence

The capabilities of automation tools have not gone unnoticed in the cybersecurity market. Here, Tim Wallen, LogPoint Regional Director, UK&I, discusses what is needed for AI, Machine Learning and RPA to transform cybersecurity. Unfortunately, this trend was not bucked in 2021. Indeed, the threat landscape continued to intensify, driven by a growth in attacks and the increasing sophistication of techniques used by perpetrators, adding additional pressures into a profession that – in the eyes of many – is nearing breaking point. Reports that a record US$40 million ransomware payment was paid by a US insurance company after its network was brought down and data stolen, merely scratches the surface of the cybercriminal events of last year.

How Agencies are Adapting to Cybersecurity Automation

#artificialintelligence

While zero-trust cybersecurity architectures are in trend, everyone in federal IT security seems to be holding onto it. What underpins the move to zero-trust is automation. Experts, including inside and outside the government are addressing for accelerated adoption of cybersecurity automation. Automation tools can identify if a user is accessing a network or a piece of data, and also can automate response sending alerts to analysts. This could save time and money of an agency and allow cybersecurity analysts to focus on analysing data and come up with new security strategies.
