Tesla proposes trillion-dollar compensation package for CEO Elon Musk
The governing board for the electric carmaker Tesla has put forward a pay package for CEO Elon Musk that could make him the world's first trillionaire -- but only if he meets a series of high-performance standards over the next 10 years. The proposal became public on Friday, as part of the company's regulatory filings. Musk is already considered one of the world's wealthiest businessmen, and one of his eye-popping pay packages from 2018 continues to be the subject of a legal battle. But if approved, the latest proposal would likely be the largest corporate pay package in United States history. Tesla shareholders will vote on the compensation scheme on November 6.

Tesla Shareholders Approve Elon Musk's Big Payday
Under CEO Elon Musk, Tesla has been credited with revolutionizing the auto industry, jumpstarting the electric revolution, and racking up billions in profit in the process. Now Musk is set for a record payday worth almost 50 billion, after the electric car company's shareholders approved a compensation plan that had been previously blocked by a federal judge. The preliminary outcome of the vote was announced Thursday afternoon during an annual shareholder meeting at Tesla's newest auto and battery factory in Austin, Texas. The setting was apropos: Shareholders also approved a measure to move Tesla's corporate registration away from Delaware and to Texas. The company's board argued that Delaware's court system--where a judge struck down Musk's pay scheme in January--has been unfair to Tesla.

Elon Musk seeks greater share of Tesla before pushing AI ambitions
The Tesla chief executive, Elon Musk, said he would be uncomfortable growing the automaker to be a leader in artificial intelligence and robotics without having at least 25% voting control of the company, nearly double his current stake. Musk said on Monday in a post on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, that unless he got stock in the world's most valuable automaker that was "enough to be influential, but not so much that I can't be overturned", at Tesla, he would prefer to build products outside of the electric-vehicle manufacturer. He has long touted Tesla's partially automated "full self-driving" software and its prototype humanoid robots but the electric-vehicle maker generates most of its revenue from its automotive business. Some analysts have also pegged the technologies, including Tesla's Dojo supercomputer to train AI models, as drivers of the EV maker's valuation, with the Morgan Stanley analyst Adam Jonas saying in September that Dojo could boost its market value by almost 600bn. Tesla's shares fell about 2% in pre-market trading on Tuesday, following Musk's comments.
